I sold one of my homebreds and part of the deal was that I have her to breed in 2007 and 2008. The situation has changed with the stallion I was planning on using and he may not be available. I dealt with many things in the contract but (stupidly) did not properly cover the situation I'm now in. I asked if I could change the breeding years to '08 and '09. No. Her owner is not willing to allow me to ship her beyond a day's drive and I cannot keep her with the SO until she is confirmed in foal. It would be ship, cover her and ship home.
The lady doesn't want her training interupted for more than a couple of days so it really limits my choices. My strong preference is for a TB but the LC is what is limiting me. I'm in southern Ontario - and so is the mare - so that leaves me with the north east if we venture into the US. Although 'my' girl is more a dressage type of mover, I wouldn't rule out hunter type stallions. The last time they measured her was about a year ago, and she was 16.2 as a 2 year old and she's a pretty substantial girl. I've been trying to think of what I would want to improve on her and maybe I'm biased but I love everything about this girl, so not much. I guess I just want to find a stallion that will compliment her and if he's coloured, that doesn't bother me one bit.
Temperament is a biggie to me and she has a bit of a stubborn streak, so I'd want to stay away from any stallions that pass on the same. Here is a picture, it's not the best but it's of her as a yearling and one of the last ones I have of her. ![]() And her pedigree http://www.pedigreequery.com/colour+conspiracy Any thoughts? I have a few ideas and I'm curious to see if anyone else makes suggestions for the same stallions. Thanks very much! |

I know they do some live cover with Yavari. He is a gorgeous stallion with a huge performance record and I've seen some nice offspring of his. Another stallion in Ontario that I quite like the look of is Chief's Triumph. He is a big tall chestnut with some bling and is in the Ottawa area. |

How about Trillionair aka Snowy River and you would get a palomino or cremello..but I guess if you were going that route you would breed to your sister's leased out stallion.
I betta she would give you the best deal!!! ![]() I would also have to second A Fine Romance and you might get a buckskin!!! Love those buckskins!!! ![]() What about that flashy chestnut TB up there?... what is his name?

I love A Fine Romance and I'm not trying to cross him off your list. I'm just inexperienced with TB breeding and I have to ask the wise experienced breeders who post on this board. This mare has Nasrullah on both her sire and dam's side. ARF also has Nasrullah on his sire and dam's side. How much Nasrullah is too much Nasrullah? |

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I am familiar with AFR and have seen a number of his offspring and he does not fit what I'm looking for. Galileo..... any idea where I can see Chief's Triumph? The website (olympicbreeders) is down and I can't find any pictures. He sounds interesting. And I agree, Yavari is gorgeous. I'm trying to remember the name of a stallion one of my customers was telling me about. Back to searching my history files...... |

Well that part I figured out - but I wasn't sure as to what sort of conformation or bloodlines she is looking for. Temperament she stated. I think she was limited to Ontario - Canada is a BIG country. |

Thank you to VB, powdercoated, avery and norsire for suggesting A Fine Romance. He is one of a few GOLD PREMIUM CANADIAN SPORT HORSE stallions (Yavari and Rio Grande are two others, and one of only a very few Thoroughbred stallions to be ISR/Oldenburg NA approved. In terms of his performance, he began his performance career in eventing, earning his Bronze Premium. His rider, Peter Gray, then Coach of the Canadian Eventing Team considered him "one of the best" and an International/Olympic prospect. Concerned for his safety, I switched him over to show hunters, and he proved himself in that discipline as well, winning many top ribbons and Championships in the Combined Working Hunter division. Well-know hunter coach/judge and author Randy Roy called A Fine Romance "an exceptional athlete with style and manners that can compete and win at any level of competition"...Truly one of our best proven performance horses". Showing on the line, A Fine Romance demonstrated his exceptional conformation and movement, winning many many Championships and Grand Championships in both the Thoroughbred and Sport Horse divisions - competing and winning against well-known stallions such as Popeye K. He is known for his kind, intelligent and unflappable temperament. In terms of pedigree, he has an outstanding TB sport horse pedigree with some of the most important names as ancestors - Nasrullah (4X4) Princequillo (5X5) Nearco, Royal Charger, Turn-to, My Babu, Double Jay etc. For those who know about TB sport horse pedigrees, it does not get much better. As a sire he has sired outstanding athletes who have inherited not only his superb conformation, but his athleticism, his jumping abililty, speed, courage and incredible work ethic. They have won on the line - including for example the TB filly Romanctic Pursuit, who has competed in the Canadian Sport Horse classes against large groups of primarily WBs - and was CSHA Grand Champion Weanling Filly and Grand Champion Weanling, end of year in 2005, and was CSHA Grand Champion Yearling Filly and Grand Champion Yearling end of year, she also won her class and was Junior Champion Filly at the Royal Winter Fair. He has sired TWO Advanced level event horses from his first two small crops (My Romance and Romancing) and has many successful event babies in the other divisions, including the 4yr old Born Romanctic who was preTraining Horse of the Year - with numerous 9's in dressage! - in 2005. He has offspring in both Canada and the US showing in the hunter ring, again, often ridden by their amateur owners. Proof of these babies' temperament is that MANY of them are owned and ridden and shown by their child/ adult amateur owners. He also has offspring showing successfully in dressage and show jumping - including the GRAND PRIX JUMPER WINNER , and full Thorougbred Southbound. A Fine Romance has been very well received across North America by top breeders. I get calls and emails on a daily basis from the owners of his babies praising their intelligence, courage and level temperaments. I've seen this filly as a yearling, and I think she is very pretty and I don't doubt she and A Fine Romance would have a lovely foal together. However, I think it is important to have a good working relationship and a situation of trust, respect and confidence with the mare owner/leasee and therefore,in this case, A Fine Romance would NOT be available to the OP. Not ever. |

Seal Harbor, to answer your question, the OP is TC's sister. Both of these people have gone out of their way to be disruptive, mean and spiteful. Nuff said? Gail, I hate to see you feel the need to defend one of Canada's finest stallions. I do think it's very important however for the rest of this board to know the source and the agenda behind it. Laurie, your mare is quite nice and as you've been in the industry for as long as I have been, you are well aware of the stallions out there. This was merely a very transparent set up. This board is comprised of super people. I for one really encourage honest and open communication and quite frankly if these posts continue to poke and prod at really incredible people (Gail) then it sinks to the level of some other unnamed boards. Take your spite elsewhere. http://community.webshots.com/user/ballyduff |
