Has anyone tried the foam ear plugs as opposed to the cotton ones? Any pros/cons to them? They're pretty expensive, so if they get flung out, I'll pass.

I like the little furry ones. They come in dark colors like black or brown so they don't show like the cotton.

I had a groom that made ear plugs out of foam. They worked well. I just liked the fuzzy ones better.

I had a mare that had to have them in for shows always. They really helped her concentrate more. :P She had a tendency to get silly and nervous.

I use the little beige tack cleaning sponges, personally - the ones that are about 2.5-3 inches in diameter. They're cheap, and they can't fling them out.

I thought my trainer was the only one! I might have to color a set black and just use those...

The tack sponges work great. I am addicted to the little foam cat toys though. They have been my favorite. WAY better than the fuzzy ones for my guy. I have gotten several people using them as well. I just paint them black with fabric paint.

You know, I have looked everywhere for a plain foam cat toy and have had NO luck.

I love the cat toys. You do have to color them, though. They're cheap, easy to get, stay clean and stay put.

I used to buy them at Kmart. They were often pink, green and blue, but we just colored them black with a majic marker. They are very dense and stay in well.

I agree with the other... once I tried the foam cat toys I was hooked. He can't get them out and doesn't seem to mind as much when I have to cram them in. I color mine with a sharpie.

Now if I could just figure out a way to remember to take them out at night. :brickwall: Or am I the only one who forgets. I always remember as I am heading back to the barn, but then forget some point when untacking and remember when i am home!!! Arghhh.. At least he dosn't seem to be too upset when I leave the foam ones in... boy I am a bad mommy.
They can be hard to find.. so once you find them buy a lot!!! One can never have to many... I like to only color half, so if you drop them they are easier to find.
Googled foam ball cat toys... I guess they are more correctly called sponge balls... pretty good price here...

When I use them at home, I use ones that haven't been painted - there is no way to forget bright orange, purple, green, and blue balls in your horse's ears! I am pretty good at shows - I always see them when I am unbraiding!
