"I did the barn for you"; uh huh...... And "did" means?

I must first say... the only time hubby "does" the barn for me is when he needs something... needs to free up some time so I can run an errand for him or to sweeten me up before announcing he's invited his whole damn family over for dinner and forgotten to tell me. But even though I know the intent behind it, getting someone else to clean the barn for me is always a treat so I don't say much.

Now the man won't sweep the barn aisles, ain't gonna happen. But lately doing the barn has taken on a new meaning. Let's see, he did the barn for me and it was a nice day and he tossed all the horses outside (before my mare foaled) so there was no reason for me to go out to the barn until it was time to bring them in for evening feed. Now I never expected him to have done up feeds so I went out about half an hour before they needed to come in. Make up feeds, dump feeds, bring in horses. Yup, half an hour sounds about right.

My "done" barn.... stalls were picked out, not mucked out. "She must have done that after I cleaned it out" Funny how they all must have and that's how I filled an entire wheelbarrow. Water buckets are full of sludge - forget scrubbed and refilled, they weren't even dumped. "They like that, when they get to the bottom it's a whole new meal" :jaw: No hay in the stalls, none even brought down from the loft. No bedding added in. "You don't need much with rubber mats" :o What? Does the rubber make them pee less? Besides I pay for the damn bedding, I should have as much as I want in there. :argh: And no, it wasn't swept. ;) So it only took me an hour and a half instead of the two hours it normally takes.
I'm such a lucky girl. On occasion I have the barn "done" for me. :woot:

When I move on to my next hubby, I am going to screen him MUCH better!

Anybody else lucky enough to have such good help? :brickwall:

I got this in an email today, and I LOVE IT!!!

"Worlds Shortest Fairytale

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl, "Will you marry me?" The girl
said, "No" and she lived happily ever after and went shopping, drank
martinis with friends, always had a clean house, never had to cook, had
a closet full of shoes and handbags, stayed skinny, and was never farted
on.

The End"

All I'm sayin'... :teehee:

This is why I tell my husband to leave the horses alone!

I want it done a certain way and unless he is willing to do it EXACTLY like I want it then just don't do anything

The next time I marry, I won't :cheer:

I agree... that Fairy Tale is hilarious! I needed to hear it 14 years ago though.

And as far as the blower  I had a gas one. "Had" until he put straight gas in the thing and seized it. Hmm.. now I'm getting depressed and I haven't even gone into when he "does" dinner. I'm jealous of all of you that have the trained ones - or ones that buy you stable boys. <_<

Mine is pretty much not allowed in the barn. If I am very sweet and cajoling, I might be able to persuade him to toss them feed (which is already made up ahead of time). Water? Sweep? Muck? Um, no, ain't happenin'.

Ladies ladies ladies.....

First don't get married until you've dated him for 5 yrs. Its the 5 Year Rule. that way you see him in all his glory and not. (Of course, that means you don't get married for the 1st time till you are in your 40's but....)

Mr. DQ *brag alert* does do dinner, and breakfast. He cooks, he cleans. He cleans better then I do. He spoils the horses rotton with carrots and applesause and peppermints. He can drive my rig - he can back my rig - all 40' of it!! I can trust him to move it and not hit anything. And he's retired - so he has great income and all the time in the world to do all these things.

Does he have drawbacks - well, sure. So do I. ;) But the bennies are worth the drawbacks (like buying grain last week and putting it in the back of his truck in the rain. oops. I think he'll not do that again.)

And he's easy on the eyes too.

And mechanically inclined too!

Both his brothers are married - sorry.

OK, DQ, just rub it in, why don't you? As if the cooking and sauces, etc., weren't enough, you say he cleans too? This is too, too much!!! I must be doing something way wrong here. <_<

I tried that one! Dated husband number 1 for 5 years and then married....it took me 6 1/2 years to divorce him. My dad told me when he couldn't drive a truck not to marry him....I should have listened to my father. :mallet:

My SO cooks and does the late afternoon animal chores (feed/water horse, dog, kitties, walk dog, muck paddock). He tries to clean the house and luckily I'm not too particular about how clean the house actually is.
Oh, he'll also brush and scratch the old mare and has absolutely no interest in ever getting on her back - so he's her new best friend

Dairyqueen your guy sounds a lot like my Fred...plus he makes all of the hay for the horses too!!! Love that he can hook up my trailer and do it properly and check it over before I go in it. I just say, "I have to haul a horse tomorrow," and come out and find it all hooked up and ready to go in the driveway by the barn when I go out in the morning! He's a keeper!!! I love that he is great with helping train the all the new foals. He has them so tame and they lead like pros by 5 days old...he is so patient and kind to them. :rose:

Oh and no brothers...sorry! ;)

I get the barn "done" for me sometimes because DH wants me to be able to sleep in some Saturday mornings. He does a great job. NO complaints here- but my barn and ponies are super easy/ low maintenance.

Norsire- I don't know what is cuter- the expression on your DH's face or the expression on the baby. They are both obviously very much in love. <3
