Thank you so much again. I appreciate your nice comments about my Pride and Joy, more than I can say!

Hopefully she continues to develop as nicely as she has so far ... :)

She's everything one could hope for in a breeding program! How do you go about placing your order for foals like that? ;) <3

Thanks onthebit ... honestly - as soon as she came out and I saw her standing there, she was so damned special looking as well and then she just kept doing everything right, day after day ...

When I spoke with Jill last night, she said as well she is just so easy to deal with. Just fits right in with any scenario and any situation that is presented to her, LOVES the show ring atmosphere, LOVES going for trailer rides, just hangs out and chills and watches the world go by ... :)

yes - she truly is ... :)

Actually her full siblings from this year and next year are already pre sold to Germany and Scotland and the lady in Scotland also wants to know if I am interested in selling the 2009 foal to her as well, but at that stage I may just hang on for awhile and see if there is another one coming along that I might want to hang onto myself! And the Scottish client also wants the first foal from the GG / Pearlescent cross (which is 100% guaranteed to be a double dilute - either cremello, perlino or smoky cream) so for the next few years anyhow, all the foals are already all spoken for!

TC, I am just curious. Why is her head so much lighter than the rest of her body? Is it just faded or ??? I don't think I had really noticed it before, just wondering.

THAT is the 64 million dollar question and NO one knows the answer to it! :sigh:

I have sent pictures and spoken to more genetic experts on it ad we dont hvae a clue ...

Each spring she sheds out a beautiful dappled caramel colour and as the season progresses, her coat colour fades more and more to match her head colouring (and thats even if we hide her under UV sheets and turn her out during non sunny stretches as well - it doesnt seem to make any diference at all ...)

I did get emailed from an AQHA breeder that has been breeding dilutes for eons and she said that it is specific to this shade and type of buckskin colouring and it simply is what it is and thats it ...

This picture from Warrenton last September shows how her coat colour starts to match her head colour as the season progresses ... and the caramel colouring fades to this light buff colour instead

So - there you go! If anyone else finds out anything different, I'd love to hear it! :)

Thanks. Very interesting. That pic from last year is probably my favorite one of her & I probably didn't notice he head because it's pretty close to the rest of her body. In the pics from a few weeks ago it's very noticeable which is why I asked. :)

Yeah- it will be very interesting to see if as she ages, she continues to get darker and deeper in her colouring, or lighten up. And if she goes through this same massive colour change each year as well ...

Ah well - keeps things interesting anyhow, wondering what colour she is going to be next year!

Ya know Donna, if that color-shade-head thing bothers ya, just send her on down to Texas. I'll be happy to take her. :P

*sigh* When I picture my dream horse, she's it!!

Thanks Jill - I'll keep that in mind if I ever get tired of looking at the colour disparity ... ;)

gracetw - I have never wanted to push things with her, so we havent done any loose jumping with her yet, but on occassion when something was in her way that she jumped over she jumped in breathless, knees up to the chin form so I am :luck: that once we do start the real over fences work, she will show the same style and aptitude and ability then as well ...

Now hopefully Kinsella will post the pictures that she took of her at the Kimberton Hunt show ths past weekend!

..hint ... hint ... ;)

Yeah, yeah... I hear you all! But I have not had access from my computer and it was not working well - taking WAY too long - to go from one computer to the other. So I am working on the right now, and will post a couple as soon as I get them ready!
