Marsha and her helper Erica could not have been nicer or more professional, I was very pleased.

No call yesterday or last night on the gelding and my $4,000 offer. I don't know, am I being dumb in not just paying another $500? Part of me is just kind of jaded about paying the same for a greenbroke, plain bay QH with nothing breeding as I did for a very very well made up and professionally started OTTB with curb appeal and lots of talent? I really, really liked him but that seems crazy-- even $4,000 seems like too much. He's a whole year awar from jumping, and while I don't mind waiting-- that ought to make him cheaper.

I feel like nothing name, no chrome QH are all over the place in the $2,000. But, on the other hand, he moved SUPER and I really liked him. What should I do?Thoughts...

well, that seems ok if you liked him that much. i am in a very horsey area and things that move nice, and are nice looking and quiet, seem to go for more than the average green broke going quiet qh. but, that is in my area. the video i sent you should be there tomorrow. this guy is a really nice mover. we only jumped him small for the video, but he jumps much nicer over bigger fences.he also had never been thru a grid and i had the rider just put her hands in his neck and let him figure it out, not to help him at all. he is also only 4 but has been to several shows and has jumped 3ft. tb's tend to mature a little faster than other breeds as well. i would xray the knees to just make sure they are closed, at that point you can start jumping them more and over bigger jumps. just wait and watch the video of turtle. he is more expensive, but i feel well worth it. let me know when you have gotton to watch it.:)

Erin is who rides for her. Marsha is pretty busy on the weekends with people coming to see horses. Give her until tomorrow and then call her. She's really good about calling/emailing people.

I thought Martha said Erica, does she maybe have 2 riders? On the equine.com ads I see a younger, shorter rider in the picrures. E&E is that Erin in this picture?

I want to send a thank you note tomorrow, it would be nice to get the rider's name right...

Aw, vxf, I think he's really cute. He's a chunka chunka burnin' love.

Good luck. I hope this one works out for you. I'm impressed with how calm and laissez-faire he is for a three year old.

I LOVE that gelding! He is so so so cute, a fabulous mover, and IMO a steal at $4000. You look great on him too and you can't beat a horse with a good brain. Go for it and good luck!! :cheer: :luck:

Or my Seamless ;) ...

thanks guys, crossing fingers that the $4,000 is accepted. Although this is what I think about sitting out ANOTHER year of showing :brickwall: :brickwall: :brickwall: but I can be patient and it's worth it for a NICE one.

yes, but the shows will still be there next year!

plus, you can start taking him to shows just to hang out and learn about being in "scary" places. that way, the whole experience will be old hat for him by the time he's ready for the baby greens and you can clean up!

And I am in an excellent place right now to raise a baby. Loads of opportunities to expose him to shows without spending megabucks (we are a mix of H/J, dressage, and eventing riders and there are opportunitied to go off property nearly every weekend), lots of places to ride in rings and hack out, no pressure to point chase/show etc. It would be fun. Right now he's not looking too ready for strip classes... but who knows, that could change :)
