<< i wonder if you're asking because you don't LOVE him, but just kind of like him? when i was looking at horses, i would most often find little issues with the ones i wasn't as crazy about, even though they were perfectly fine horses. >>

It's kind of the opposite. I really loved him, and when I got off I felt so good. But then when I looked at the pictures, I felt like it LOOKED a lot different than it felt. I didn't FEEL like he was small at ALL when I was riding him. But I am worried it looks that way.

Julia, to me, looked big on him too. And we're nearly the same height. So I felt like that was a bit of a bad sign. It FELT awesome, just not sure how it looked.

I also want a black SO BAD that I want to make sure I am not just digging the wrapper.

Unless you're going to be in a very competitive ring, it won't matter.

if you really loved how he felt, then i wouldn't worry so much about being a little bit big on him...go back and look at him again, see if you still love him...

what is his name, by the way? i'm pretty sure i talked to someone about that horse at one point...had even planned on going to see him, then found my horse. she was very very nice if it is the same horse (dare me to dazzle was the name, i think).

That's the same horse! Small world. I am surprised, I think he's only been advertised for a about 2 weeks, maybe less?

The owner could NOT be nicer.

The name SO has to GO. ;) :psycho:

nope, he was on the market back when i was looking in november/december. they may have pulled him for a little while since winter is a slow time. the owner was great...if i remember, they bought him as a dressage prospect, but just didn't think he wanted to be a dressage horse and would be better suited for the hunters. he's awfully cute :) how does he move/jump?

She must have taken the ad down for the winter, because it just popped back up.

He's no dressage horse! He moves about as flat and daisy cuttery as you could expect with a cute little toe point-- and he's got steel up front right now. He'll be even cuter with aluminum and the proper hunter frame.

We didn't get to jump him a ton but he's very willing and actually fairly rateable for a greenie.

i think you should definitely take another look at him...he was at the top of my list to look at, i just fell in love with my guy before i made it up to PA ;) you know how it goes.

i'm also a big believer in the personality of the seller as a guide for how much i want to look at a horse. the woman who i got my horse from could not have been better...she's a fantastic horsewoman and person, and it gave me confidence that he had been brought along the right way and that i was getting the full story. seriously, trust your gut when it comes to horse people, as sad as it is, not all of them are honest.

Yeah, but we are built totally differently! You need something with less barrel and more neck to balance out your torso; I need a chunker to take up my leg :P I thought you looked good on him in person, and he's still my favorite that we've looked at thus far, by a long shot.

I agree with the other posters who said your torso may be a tad long for him, but the overall picture likely will improve once he stretches out his neck and develops more crest. One other thing I noticed - and it could just be the angle of the picture - he looks a little butt high, which could be the result of the recent growth spurt. If this is the case, it could be making you look bigger than you will once his front end catches up, because it tips you more onto his front end. If you love everything else about him, I say go for it. Think of it this way, the size is acceptable now, and he's only going to get bigger and fill out - not shrink :P

Seller didn't call me back yet. She was supposed to get back into town tonight. I don't want to bug her in case her flight was delayed. If I don't hear from her tonight, I'll call tomorrow AM.
