I agree with mbj, LL, what a sad story, but I'm glad that it has an happy outcome.
And of course I don't mind you adding it to this thread. It is all connected. and :rose: to you.

mbj, yes I do have a full brother to Lips in my barn. The last and I think perhaps the best of the bunch. Firefly is a big handsome boy, much like his big brother.
I have not advertised him for sale though. I want him to go to a very special home. I'm visualizing a beautiful farm in PA perhaps, in horse country, with loving, knowlegable people and a wonderful talented rider to take him on ..... I'm sure this place exists....... :teehee:

Oh there is a place in Pennsylvania , and a talented rider who covets Firefly and adores the Fredling she has. Unfortunately there is no $ to buy more horses. Other child has big college bills and even tho she is working hard outside school and in and going through in 3 years instead of 4 it is still @>$45,000/yr. Sigh! And I really don't want her to come out of undergraduate school with big loans to pay off. I swear that is how "the system" controls our young and keeps them from changing the status quo. Sorry for the hippy rant that has nothing to do with gorgeous Fredlings!

Fred I just saw this and Im thrilled to hear about Lips.
Knowing Erynn he will have a wonderful life now and the absolute BEST of everything ~ lucky superstar that he is!!! :one:

Now if I could just hide a certain 2 year old stallion prospect somewhere on my farm and keep him a secret from MAH ( mean accountant husband)

mbj's very own Irish Fredling could also be a GP jumper just like his big bro Lips and his other big bro Bally - except mbj says he has to go be a **** event horse first . :P

Well but if the Mitzi Fredling wants to be a show jumper more then that is what he gets to be. We are big believers in letting a horse do what he loves. My guess is that Blarney has lots of options to explore.
And yes, I wish I had the $$ to take that 2 y.o.stallion prospect. Yum yum!

Yup-- Ivy League educations are pricey and aren't into merit scholarships. She will get some aid but not alot, despite being a top student, etc., etc. Riding kid turned down those schools for a full merit scholarship at a less fancy school with an excellent bio department located in evening heaven (Maryland). Saving her college stash for grad school and horses.

thank you cadogan :rose: , I'm really happy he is in such good hands now. I think we have a few road trips ( a short one for you!) to Palgrave to see him when he shows up here. Are you up for it?

Fred, is this Lips?

If you don't mind me asking, who is showing him? If that is him, that picture is from one of the Houston spring AA shows, either Pin Oak or Spring Gathering grand prix. One of my barnmates (at home in Houston) is obsessed with a bay TB type named Southbound...is this him?

Fred - come up for Palgrave May 14th week, I have 2 showing that week so will be up there a lot! Bally gets to go in the Grand prix ring for the first time so should be very exciting and Blush is doing the Baby Greens, through the week.

Friday pm is the $25k Open welcome, Sat pm is the $10k Mod GP and Sun pm is the $50k Pan Am Trials
We can go sit in the GP enclosure drink champers and be the "Lips" fan club- bring your ballgown and tiara

It sure looks like him Double Whammy! <3
His owner/rider is Martien van der Hoeven. Lips aka My Romance is now named Southbound, and he is a registered Thoroughbred, by A Fine Romance out of Macassa (aka Mommy Dearest).
Thank you for posting the picture of him. :rose: did you take it?

Tell your roomate I have a very handsome full brother at home with me! ;)

My Romance aka Southbound is going to Palgrave, when I find out which classes he is entered in, I plan to go. Road trip anyone?

I also had another great phone call this morning. An AFR daughter came 2nd at her first outing this year at Training, ridden by her young teen owner/rider.

A friend of mine saw him just schooling on the flat up at Palgrave yesterday. She said he looks fabulous, huge (he is 16.3+) and really filled out and muscular.
I need to check the entries - he may be going on Sat in the Modified GP.
I'm wondering if my DH would like a drive to Palgrave this weekend? :luck:
