how good is this? http://www.pedigreequery.com/index.php?que...&h=GOLD+HARVEST honestly, I don't follow racing. I know the super great, like Secretariat, etc..... some of these horses I looked at made a lot of money... but would you consider this a "good" pedigree? This is Tex's(gelding) pedigree, so obviously there won't be any babies. I was just curious to hear from all of you guys that knwo what you're talking about. lol |

I don't know much about pedigrees either... at least not TB's but I believe i read somewhere that Mr. Prospector was like one of the all time leading Stakes winner sires. I rememeber I had Bloodhorse magazine once (the High end COTH for racing) and it had an ad that said his stud fee was $250,000.00 live foal guarantee only. I guess they were sure of their stallion. Not sure how his Offspring fair in the jumping department. Maybe try posting this in the racing forum... |

Ah... if only this were a pedigree for a mare.... *sigh* On the top side, I certainly like to see In Reality in sport-horse pedigrees. His dosages indexes also indicate a horse bred for some distance and endurance. At least more so than seen in many modern "speed on speed" pedigrees. This is a very nice female family. Very nice. One always likes to see a tail-female line to La Troienne. That is one of the most successful female lines in american racing. More importantly, you don't have to stretch to find some nice horses in the immediate family. Half-sibling to multiple stakes winners and a lovely stakes producer. Too bad he's not a she!!! :-) Does he look as nice in person as he does on paper? |

He is soo a typical Mr. Prospector and looks just like his sire! Sprinter lines, IMO, are more "cute"... like the sprinter we had by Roar was as cute as a bug in a rug... you'd never expect him to be a speed machine... more of a cuddler ~Adrienne |

Well, I don't know anything about pedigrees either, but my mare is related to your boy (two generations back - to Raise a Native & In Reality), although the degree that they are related escapes me: http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/wealthia She's chestnut, too.... He's gorgeous!

I haven't done one in awhile so here goes. Gold Harvest: He looks more Raise a Native/Mr P than Crafty P. In fact the length of back looks a bit like his broodie sire, Foolish Pleasure. His sire Crafty Prospector was just pensioned. He'd been a top class sire, a speed influence with many stakes winners. Crafty Prospector was by Mr Prospector, one of the greats in the racing world. His dam is by In Reality, a top class horse and male line descendant of Man O' War. In Reality reinforces the speed influence of Raise A Native "on top." Your horse (though he may not care) hails from the most elite family in racing, that of La Troienne. This family is still most coveted, even 50 years after the matriach's death. Her Bubbling Over filly was purchased by the Phipps family upon the death of Col Bradley and from her they got Striking who was a foundation mare for them. This branch of the family was successful by most standards but not the Phipps' and was sold to Mrs Genter who had better luck, sending her to In Reality and getting 2 stakes winners. Looking at her progeny, I assume she was sold after conceiving the '78 Buckpasser foal. Don't Worry Bout Me is the dam of a filly by Smile named I'll Get Along who produced Smarty Jones. (So you own a 1/2 brother to the dam of Smarty Jones!) Your horse also has a half bro called Cowboy Cop who I remember as a tough midwestern race horse. Golden Harvest has a lot of high class dams in her first 5 generations. In addition to La Troienne there is Iltis (through dtr My Dear Girl, dam of In Reality) and Miss Dogwood (3rd dam of Mr. P) and Planetoid (dam of Grey Flight dam of What a Pleasure) any of these mares adds class to a pedigree. As for sporthorse breeding, sires like What A Pleasure (who was a dominant sire in the 70's but who's sons were modest sires) and Herbager as well as In Reality stand out. His sireline is known for questionable knees and often upright shoulders that can lead to issues lower in the leg. You have a handsome and very well bred pleasure pony. The "head shot" pic screams Raise a Native to me. His head is structired like Alydar's and his coloring matches Aly's as well. Alydar was also by Raise a Native. |

My 3 year olds dam sire is In Reality and her dam's grandsire is In Reality. His daddy is Formal Gold a Mr. P great grandson thorugh Miswaki. His dam is a half sister to Unbridled and Cahill Road. She was unraced and is chestnut as is my boy. He is going to make a very nice hunter. |
