Who's planning to be there??? Since it is a tad unrealistic to think I can get to any of the PA shows (with the exception of Devon LOL!), I am definitely going to Upperville this year. Who should I keep an eye out for?

Well - Faux Finish will be there for sure, and I *should* be there as I have a horse to deliver to a client a few miles away that should be safely in foal at the 60++ day mark by that time. The client is about 20 minutes away from Upperville, so I can stay there and sip wine in the hot tub and see her new arena they are just building now so it sounds like a fun vacation as well as getting to see the show!

So yeah - probably about 95% or more that I will be heading down! :)

I love Upperville! I will be going with my pre-green horse and most of my young horses for the breeding division.
Cindi and I just bought a yearling pony foal together named Escamade, so she will be there for sure along with the rest of our gang. Last year Zarrbuck was out of his mind... probably because I gave him a whole bale of alfalfa in a hay net the night before.

The best part about Upperville is that you can be out in the ring during the breeding classes. I spent a good amount of time speaking with Diana Dodge, who is a wealth of information and loves to share her knowledge.

*waving hand wildly*

ME ME ME!!!!!! If my boy is fat and slick enough...he'll be there competing against True Color's Faux Finish...(not that I have a chance against her pretty lady-I'm just taking him for his benefit)!

If he's not up for it, I will be there anyway, my godmother is bringing her filly down from PA (who is by the same stallion as mine) so I will at least be there grooming for her! She'll also be in the 3YO TB class.

We all have to get together!!!! :cheer:

AC - YAY!!! That will be such a blast to meet some of the people on this board! :)

Now your guy would be in the 3 year old TB colts and geldings, so not against Faux Finish at all, unless they are both lucky enough to win their classes and go into the Best Young Horse class and meet up there!

Great news! :)

Wrong! :teehee: The three year old TBs are filly/colt/gelding all in one class. I have the prizelist right here infront of me. :point:

True Colors...unfortunately they don't split the 3YO's by gender...they all show together!

I'm guessing because by 3 there are less glaring differences between boys and girls.

So...I will have a grand view of FF's tushie as you collect your ribbon ahead of me!!!

Hey - dont be so sure of that!!!

Some of these judges dont appear to like these "weird coloured horses" all that much! ;)

And Im still trying to get used to how you guys DO things down there!

I mean - come on - EVERYONE knows that red ribbons are for FIRST place and not second ... ;)

I'm hoping to go with my mare. I will see if I can get her slick enough.. I would love to show her there in the breeding class.

How difficult is it to find a handler for these classes? I know that most of the Top people have handlers.

Can people handle their own horses?

You can absolutely handle your own horse...but unfortunately (like the big hunters) who's at the end of the reins is as important as how your horse looks. A well known handler will usually get you a better ribbon. Not ALL the time, but usually. Unless whatever you're showing is just, well....SCARY. But in those cases, the "well known handlers" will politely decline to hold your animal.

But NONE of OURS are!!!!! :one:

When you show in the Foals class do the mares go in with the foals?

I will most likely handle my mare myself, I will need someone to handle the baby though!!

I'm not a big name but I know how to handle my guys...

I really just want to go for he experience of it!!
