The daddy of my filly is Albarez. He's a young Holsteiner stallion out of Texas. He's got super bloodlines and I really liked working with his owners... they were super to deal with. He's a bright bay with 4 white socks. Here's his pedigree http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/albarez you can see him at www.royalcstud.com I hope to keep this foal as a replacement for my old gelding that's 20 now and will be retiring completely in the next few years. I hope to show her on the line... and see what happens from there. A lot depends on my finances and what happens with my Significant other ... we are planning on buying a small farm in the next year or two and hopefully having all our horses at home. Right now I am boarding so I can't enlarge my herd too much, due to cost. I just really have always wanted to have a foal, and I found this great mare.... and decided to do it. My mare (the mom) is a very nice mover, and also has pretty good bloodlines herself. She has a lot of Dutch and Holsteiner lines even though she's a registered Belgian Warmblood (BWP). I won't breed her back this year.. after the foal is weaned the mom will go back into training. She's very talented for dressage and has jumping ability too... so that will be fun once the baby is weaned. She was in training up until about January of this year. She's a greenie herself... Here's my mare's pedigree: http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/windsong11 She's by Branco, who died last year of colic. Anyway, this is very exciting. I am very lucky to be in Virginia with such knowledgeable people around me in the breeding of these horses. I am still learning as I go! So far it's been a great experience. |

OK, I saw her in person, and she is just TOO CUTE!!!
When you go over there next, look for Lauren. She's out in the dry lot with the other "expectants". Grey mare, black mane/tail, wearing a blueberry-colored sheet. She'll probably be hoovering any leftover grain she can find. <G> My foal-to-be is by Nevada (Dutch WB), so we're hoping for some chrome! (of course with my luck, it will have 4 stockings and a blaze, but be a grey, and go completely white in 4 years!) Depending on how good the foal is, I may do some line showing with it, and either keep or sell it. Lauren will be bred this year to Don Alfredo. |

That Popeye K baby is hysterical! Friendly is just not enough to decribe him. Good news, I got an email from Steffie, her mare Hattie (in foal to Silvio) foaled last night at 10:30! Another filly! She's calling her Temujin. I'm hoping to stop by today on our way to walk the ODH hunter pace course and see her. |

That's great. Now if your mare has a filly, we will have the cutest little girls in Middleburg!! Can't wait to see your foal! DNC... I know Elf is an old man! He's doing well, he's a little stiff but still pretty sound. I just do light work with him and trail riding. He's the king of his field, out 24/7 and happy as a clam.. I wonder how "Tweety" is doing? I know the girl that bought her in Tucson still has her, and her mom is riding her. She's like 17 now! She was a sweet mare. |

I still see them at shows (both some of the Arab shows and the local schooling shows) occasionally (but with their arab gelding). I think Chris is trail riding her a lot. She was/is a cool mare! |

I went to see them today. My mare is a bit of a prima donna. If you give her carrots or brush her, she starts thinking me me me, and gets fussy when the foal wants to nurse. She's fine once she settles down..but sometimes she just won't stand still if the baby is wanting a drink... Patricia said she's been nursing fine all day though.. are some mares just fidgety? Anyway...... I did actually brush the mom down a little and she did stand, and the baby was so curious and nuzzled me. She's very sweet and curious. Mom was ok with it.. but when we were done, she started this little fussy thing she's been doing. I think just being a maiden she needs to adjust. She's very protective though and is caring for the baby. I think she will get it. |

I took some new photos today. She's got her little blankie on. It's been so cold and windy.. they haven't gotten to go outside yet. This week I think it will be warmer.. She's extremely curious and friendly. Mom is being much better too, and nursing her very well today. Zuni bucked and kicked around the stall. She's so funny. She's sticking her tongue out in a couple of these. Silly girl. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Thanks! She has the littlest head. We put a foal halter on her and it was too big! She was about 2 weeks early so maybe that's why.. her mom has a small head too.. but she's so refined and dainty! She's already growing though, I can tell a difference. Yesterday was their first day outside in the paddock. Mom got in trouble because she ran the baby around too much. She's fine but my BM Patricia said they were too excited! They had been in the stall for a week because of the weather and I think she was just feeling too good. Patricia put them back in so the baby wouldn't be too exausted. Maiden mares.... ugh.... she needs to learn all this stuff!! I went out to see them last night and all was good. Baby had taken a nap and was again bugging mom for all the milk she could get.
