Well, in January I treated myself to a Christmas present. I bought a pair of custom chaps. I've wanted these chaps for years upon end and finally decided to just buy them for myself. When I went there they said that the chaps would be ready in March. Well, around March 15th I thought to myself "I better call and see exactly when in March." Well, the woman I spoke with said that the person who makes the chaps had her knee replaced and so they were running a week behind, but I would have them no later than April 1st. Being that today is April 3rd and still no chaps, I called again. Now they say I should have them in two to three weeks. It's going to be 90 degrees out by the time they get here. I'm more frustrated at the situation than anything. I know they are a small store and I feel bad for the woman who needed surgery, but I want my chaps darn it! Thank you for letting me vent.

The one consolation is that your chaps are going to be SO BEAUTIFUL that it will have been worth the wait. Take lots of pictures when they get there so that I can use the pictures as a model for when I go get my chaps
heh heh

I am very much looking forward to when I get my arse in gear and actually order a pair from them. I soooo need a new pair of chaps. I'm just too freakin' lazy to make an appointment to have them "fit" me.
It'll definitely be worth the wait.

I want a pair of custom half chaps, but I hear that Chuck Penell (sp?) is the better place to go for half-chaps.... Anyone heard/think the same? |

I ordered mine in Dec and the original date was Feb 23. I got them a month late. They told me the same thing they told you and were very apologetic. If it makes you feel any better, a girl at the barn also ordered hers around the same time and her original date was the beginning of March. She got hers a week ago. They seem to be catching up slowly but are definately still behind. You should get them soon, I would think. Mine are gorgeous and fit perfectly. Totally worth the wait! |

I'm going to Chuck P's next week to get measured for half chaps, to replace my stolen full chaps... I have been told by several people that, not only is his quality better, he is also a lot nicer to deal with... He's been wonderful in scheduling my appointment... and he said that he's going to get them done as quickly as he can to "get me back in the saddle". |

Oh you will love them, worth the wait! I still like the look of full chaps vs. half chaps. |

Here are mine.. they're chocolate brown and baby blue.. double piping, double fringe, fancy stitching, needlepoint, snap front. I opted not to do any exotics since there was so much baby blue going on.

Oh that's too funny. Mine are chocolate brown and baby blue. I did not, however, get the fringe. I'll have to take pictures when I get mine and we can compare. |

I got my full chaps from Chuck, and they were ready WELL before the date they gave me. They are beautiful and he has been very helpful when I call with stupid questions about caring for them. I've had them for 5 years now, and they are holding up great! |

I recently got a pair of half chaps from Journeyman that I really love. I can't find off the rack half chaps that fit (I have really short legs and thick calves, plus one of my legs is an inch bigger around than the other) so customs were my only hope. They're not as nice as Chuck's half chaps (nor did I have as many options as I would have if I went with him) but his were out of my price range so I went with Journeyman. I think the quality of mine is good, the workmanship is excellent, and frankly they fit and I didn't go broke so that makes me happy. |
