Actually, three horses, but there's one in particular who has piqued my interest. They are all OTTBs who ran briefly without success and the breeder brought them home. Do I need another horse? Hell, no. But if the right one came along...

I am green with envy. Here it is weekend again and the only new prospect really isn't - he's a 3 yr old - for a just-beginning-to-ride hubby: no. Do tell what you find. |

Why do we do that? DD just e-mailed me some nice dreamhorse ads. Why? She is in college, and will have to sell her Barrel Horse after this summer as she will just be sitting here getting fatter. The sad thing is my heart beat faster at the mere thought of getting another horse, which we do not need Its a sickness I tell ya. Be sure to post back what you find, with photos please  |

And two out of three are cute, and the third has a tendon.
The two that are still in the running are both four-year-olds by Gorky Park. One is plain bay and the other chrstnut with a big ol' blaze. The bay ran around the back of the field in his six starts and never passed more than a handful of horses. He's about 16.1, fairly light boned, great canter, adequate trot, adequate jump. Very laid back. His idea of spooking is to turn his head and look while bulging slowly to the opposite direction. Think but not The chestnut does more but still is quite good for an OTTB with no retraining. We popped him over a couple crossrails and the right instincts are there. Not as good a mover as the bay, but bigger boned and a better natural headset. He ran a whopping three times, bulleted out of the gate to the lead, then packed it up after a half mile. Both have lead changes (yippee! ) and both are sweet and non-cribbers. Never had any surgeries or injections, and are both clean-legged.Now, to convince DH!

Okay, these are VERY rough and ready kinda guys. They came home from the track just before Christmas and have been living out ever since--and these pics were after we rode, so they are hot and sweaty. The bay: The chestnut: I may have to fix these later--DH is coming!

Aww, you looked at Park the Bug. He's very sweet. Good luck! I've had several Dresden-bred TBs, and they've all been great horses. Did you look at Jane's Luck? |

I did. Jane's Luck had the tendon. Shame, because he's pretty cool. But he's older, has had more pounding... They really seem to raise them right there, don't they? I know Therese from my racehorse list, but this was the first time I'd met her in person. |

They certainly do. Therese is wonderful, everyone was so sad when she left the other year. The woman they had in between was TERRIBLE. I called 4 times trying to set up a time to come over and look at some horses, and she never called me back! Here is a picture of the one mare I got from them: and http://www.peggyjsmith.com/0506SPLowsalbum...0506SP2051.html |

What's the breeding on yours? Is she a Gorky Park or a King's Grant? So, dish! What do you know about my guys?! You can PT me if you want! |

She's actually by Raffies Majesty. They did a few outside breedings that year, I guess, so she's a NY-bred. LOL, nothing too dicey! I went over in January and looked at them in the field. I didn't see the first bay when I was there, but I looked at Jane's Luck, Park the Bug, and probably 6 others. There was one named King's Rollick that was very sweet looking...seemed like he'd make a great field hunter. I don't know if he's still there or not. I liked Jane's Luck, but that tendon, and his age, made me hesitate, although he certainly was a nice size. Park the Bug was just adorable, but not quite a good enough mover for what I wanted (another sidesaddle prospect), plus I don't really like chestnuts (although George does...), so it would have to be a really spectacular horse for me to buy a chestnut.

The other bay is named Smart Gorky. I liked him as well and These told me she'd give me a package deal, but unfortunately I believe that coming home with two new horses would spell divorce for me! I'm going back on the 18th to look to both of them again, with trainer in tow. So we shall see! |

[singsong voice] I'm going back tomorrow!!
I talked to Therese today, and she said "are you bringing the trailer???"  I'm not, but I am dragging trainer and best friend down there for their input. Then I have to work on DH. It really is a sickness, isn't it? |
