I use a pair of Andis Super-2s with the wide blade. I'm a total novice and learnt to clip from a book, and these clippers are very kind to me.
I also have tendonitis in one wrist, and the Super-2s are so light that that's not much of an issue.I just re-clipped my boy; he was done in November, but he was at the point where his curry comb couldn't penetrate his fuzz. I love a fresh-clipped horse; they are so much easier to keep clean. I can curry up and brush off so much more scurf. After I clip, I hot-towel with a mix of baby oil, Vetrolin liniment, and coat conditioner, and then spray coat conditioner on after every grooming. I am fortunate in that my horse's just-clipped coat is very handsome. Some horses turn orange, or look mousy, but his undercoat is chocolate brown. |

I'm seriously thinking about clipping my filly next winter, problem is she's a cremello so has all pink skin. I have some spray on sunscreen for her, but would that be enough? Of course she'd be blanketed, but for the parts not covered? Or should I just learn to love the white woolly mammoth look and deal with the 500 pounds of hair I'll get covered in when shedding starts? |

Hmmm..Clipping wet... Sat around for hours the other day watching 6 inch long leg feathers dry so I could clip them off... Good to know... Anyone used the Wahl/Star/Listers... Heard Raves about the Andis, but I HATE my Andis trimmer so much, I don't want to throw good $$$ after bad.... |
