Congratulations!! Gorgeous filly, and great mom.

I have to say I've mostly been thinking "stop hogging the camera and let Roz have it" But when I saw her with her foal tonight, I really felt part of something special.

What a beautiful foaling it was, and what great bonding they've been having.

(but for Roz's foal, could you put something in that corner so she'll have to foal on camera?)

:-)

Don't worry, Roz will be on tomorrow night. She got sneaky on me last year and I won't let it happen again! I went to check her after I got little Val situated, and I found the teensiest bit of wax!!!

For those who don't read COTH, here is what I posted there-

Alrighty then!!!!

BIG

Bay

FILLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Her name is "Val" - short for "Valentine's Date" due to the perfect heart on her forehead. She has a white on the left front with funky ermine spots that make the sock disappear from certain angles. Ermine spots on the hind socks as well.

Beastie was a great help. The filly's one front kept sliding back in and I had to do a little assist because her elbow tried to get stuck. Then I had to help with the first stand because the mats were pretty slippery.

Gotta go watch and make sure she finds the spiggots -- oh, and this is my second foal out of Flirt, but she has had two prior to coming to me - both were colts.

I missed it. I was watching Flirt while she was spinning and I knew she was going to go soon but had stuff to do and she was making me a little dizzy.

Flirt is the best mommy - it's now 2:30 your time and she is still cleaning and nuzzleing the baby. The filly is SO bloody cute. I want her.

She is also nursing quite a bit and is actually quite steady on those long legs of hers considering she is only a few hours old.

She is doing daddy proud already!!! She jumped a 2' verticle in the indoor ring today. I had to go in and take jumps down because she was being so bold, I was afraid she would hurt herself.

Yaksmom, great photos, so good to see. Love the third and fourth ones. Wow, she sure has some legs on her. I watched as you (I guess it was you?) were trying to get her started on her first meal. I'm so used to crouching with the little donkeys...I think yours would be too much of a handful for me, very strong, aren't they? And the relief when the finally latch on! Way to go, wish I'd seen the birth! Congratulations again. What a joy to see.

So Roz is up - she will pop in the next three days. Probably Friday night because I have to ship horses on Saturday morning. She's close, but not tonight.

I'm torn between wanting Roz to foal so I can see the baby, and wanting her to hold off for a while....

Mr SymRanch is getting a little tired of being awakened every night by the MareStar galloping and whinny-ing. Having a mare in foal to one of our boys helps me justify keeping the computer on all night!!! :-)

She is beautiful!! And she really does appear to be huge! I was watching her learning to walk - she was too funny each foot was going up and down but she really wasn't getting anywhere.

She is comparible in size to my HOF filly - who is at least 15hands and she just turned one! She is taller than Miss Val already and has more bone/substance. Not as much bling as I expected, but she has the most beautiful dished face! After her second nursing (first one solo), she had the hiccups and was pissed at the world!!! It was funny watching her take it out on mom!! No barn name yet because it is up to my daughter, and she hasn't come up with anything acceptible. Two of my fillies from last year are named "Garnet" and "Tundra" -- waaaaay too complicated :psycho: . Any suggestions?

Oh and seal - I checked her at 1:30 (standing in corner not doing anything) and went to catch a nap -- set my alarm for 2:00am. Spacely called me at 1:45!!!! I could have slept right through it!!! It solidifies that these cameras are a GOOD thing!

Congrats, after going to bed two nights in a row fully expecting your new "little" one to be there in the morning I can't believe this is the morning she is here - Roz looked so quiet last night when I went to bed. I can't wait to see pictures - Roz seemed to be hiding her from the camera when I looked this am.
