Candy is as wide as she is tall! Her bag is fully developed, but not "there" yet (think bovine ) She is in foal for a Mandate baby, she is a 14.2 hand reg. Paint. She has just started to develop some edema and usually foals between 320 - 330. This will be her fourth foal. As I type this with a tired brain, I am remembering her gestations gradually getting longer. Her first two were by a small Welsh pony and were 320, and 324 respectively. Her last baby was a Mandate, and she went 330. So far, she has been predictable as far as her bag development being a indicator if impending labor. Hopefully not before 4/14 Candy ![]() Last year's filly by Mandate- ![]() My Webcam |

How exciting, Yaksmom, thanks for sharing such a special time. You have a monitor in your bedroom? I don't think I'd sleep a wink. I do think that one foaling can trigger another to foal, if they're close; also, barometric pressure. Do you check milk in the mares? I'm always so terribly relieved to have a successful delivery, but I'm a nervous wreck while waiting. Love the name "Flirt" by the way. |

I wish I could pull it up Yaksmom. My computer needs something to do it and I am one of the last complete dinosaurs that doesn't understand even what my message says. Please keep me up on the foaling. I wish I could see. Mary |

It is definitely a labor of love as soooo much can go wrong, but soooooooo gratifying when things work out. I take it one step further in that I keep them until I start them under saddle before I seriously start to market them for sale. Thankyouverymuch, we breeders appreciate those who understand how hard it is to do what we do! |

She started to wax three days before she popped last year. Right now, her bag is full and the baby is extremely active, but no wax. She hasn't dropped back enough yet either, but has edema. As of tonight, she has started stocking up (she has a bum hind leg from an accident) and so she will stay wrapped for support until her load is lighter. |

I'm watching this one and she looks like she is about ready to go. She has been up and down 5 or 6 times. Keeps rolling but I didn't see her water break. I called and left a message. I can't tell if someone is standing outside the stall or not. since I don't know nothin' about birthin no babies I'm not sure if she is ready or not. I feel so stupid. Yaksmom don't be me mad at me for calling if I was wrong She does look very unhappy and if she isn't in labor there is something else making her unhappy. Her butt is away from the camera so I can't see anything.

Hoooray! I can see it now! Holy cow she's big!!! Doesn't look comfortable, but I don't see that she's in labor yet.....but I suppose we might all be surprised! Is it true that most foals are born after midnight? I've heard that but not sure if it's true.....if so I'll probably miss it all! |

She had been up and down a lot earlier, rolling and staring at her nether regions. She is much more sedate now except for the EATING!! Holy cow can that one eat, one wouldn't think there was any room! She is quite large on the cam. |

THANK YOU!!!! It was just gas . She looks much the same when she is in labor, but her water breaks by the second or third time she goes back down. It was "just" a gas colic and all seems to be OK after walking an hour. Took the time out of her stall to give her a proper grooming - in the stall all that hair makes me wheezy. Oh, and to get even, I pulled her mane.I was out teaching and my daughter called from the house (she has a BIG monitor in her computer room) to tell me the mare was down and uncomfortible. I do appreciate the call - I didn't get it because after my daughter called, I realized the charge was very low on the phone and had to plug it in, just in case i needed to call the vet - which I actually did to confirm whether or not I could give Banamine if she gets uncomfortible again. |
