Can anyone recommend a saddle for someone with a little extra in the hips and butt? Currently they are riding in an older Collegiate Graduate but it appears to me they need a little bigger maybe wider saddle in the seat.TIA! |

Well, I think sometimes just going up a size or two is all one needs, although some brands just ride bigger. I usually ride in an 18", but rode very, very comfortably in a 17" Lucinda Green (great saddles, but hard to find here) and a 17" HdR. If you have someplace with a lot of saddles, used or otherwise, just go and sit in a ton of them (and don't look at the seat size numbers, just go for fit). If you don't then give (or have your friend give) the folks at Trumbull Mountain a call. They're awfully good at suggesting saddles to vit various horsey and human anatomies.

The Bates Caprilli tends to have a wider/deeper seat, as well as the Pessoa A/O. |

Yes I agree I have seen the Pessoa A/O's and Stadiums with a wider seat, you can definitely tell when you hold a Gen-X and A/O next to each other. LOL, I have to tell a funny story about "Junk in the trunk" though. My trainer was talking to us one time about how she had "junk in the trunk", but I had no idea what that phrase meant. So being the blonde I am (okay I''m really brunette), I tell her why doesn't she just clean out the trunk of her car. Of course everybody had a good laugh about that one, as I stand there totally confused! |

I'm crushed to hear that my Bates Caprilli is actually a well-know 'trunk junk' hider
All this time I thought it was just perfect for my long thighs (and that perhaps my butt wasn't as big as I thought)! |

I am not too proud to admit to my rather large collection of junk in the trunk. I ride in an Albion Kontrol that has a nice wide seat and panels. |
