I am debating with my self on wether to start Dt on this. He is a 'mild mannered' beasty right now but is easily upset if /shen seperated from his llama. And as he was not scoped in the last almost 3 yrs to see if he may have ulcers. I saw this stuff at to local places and started thinking couldnt hurt... But when I asked the people at the local stores they went mmm dont know anyone who has used it.. but here is hte litature on it... course this is the same area where most do not do coggins because someone bout 25 yrs ago had a false positive so they are no good...
Anyway I was wondering if it is worth the price ( I would get th granules not the pastedue to ease) as a 'preventive' measure or should i wait until Dt is no longer 'fat and sassy'.. and have a scope confirming that he has tummy problems...
Dt is litterally an air firn he gets mmm bout 1/2 qt of plain ol oats and only that because of the supplements he normally gets free roam/choice pasture or hay depending on weather/ season...
But he is an OTTB who has always been laidback (cept when cold breeze up butt).

I use the paste, and mine loves it. That's why I have kept using it, I can't point directly to it doing anything. You'd probably do the same thing or better in a more cost effective manner by dumping some oil in the feed, but mine won't eat anything in his feed.

It's supposed to help with weight and digestion, and, correspondingly, overall appearance.
The listed ingredients don't really inspire much confidence in that direction, and my vet's response was "they don't tell you what's IN it". However, horse does like it, and we were desperate to do SOMETHING for my non-supplement eating skinny picky eater.
What it turns out that he really likes best though, and what I think made a big difference in his coat, are the Platinum Performance Bars.

Sounds like a protein bar, or an Oh Henry for horses :innocent:

does the Platinum Peformance Bar do basically the same thing? General health, digestion and coat? Is it fed daily or more as a treat?

Daily, or whatever. One bar = one scoop Platinum Performance.

Thanks
I had also seen the performance bars and those were going to be my next question.. But question answered thanks Cbolyen...
The reason I was thinking of the powder is Dt is not the 'nicest' when it comes to pasts being stuck in his mouch.. I have this thing about being tossed around like a peice of paper when I am trying to paste him.
I Will have to do more thinking and ask vet what he thinks. Should the need arise in the future.

Is the Succeed along the lines of a pro-biotic?

Thanks CBoylen, sounds very interesting. I'll have to check out their availablility up here in the frozen North <_<

I have the same problem trying to put anything other than treats is Chaz's mouth. Anything in liquid form, I tend to wear more than he ingests :duh: I can't believe how long he can go without swallowing and I can stroke his throat as long as I want!

My barn got some succeed for free to do 6 week trials on 6 horses. My horse got to be one of the lucky six since he is a really hard keeper and an extremely picky eater. First off, he loved, loved, loved getting the succeed. We had the paste and he thought it was a treat. He also started cleaning up his meals right away begging for more. It made a huge difference in him. I don't know if it did anything for his coat because he already had a really nice one. He did however put weight on in those 6 weeks. I would have loved to be able to keep him on it, but as a college student paying my own bills, there is no way I can afford it. I have to say that it is amazing stuff though. I have since put him on U7, which has actually had the exact same results as succed though.
