Maybe you all can help me find a girth for my new girl?? I finally got my hands on a 42" for hunt seat, which is still a bit long, but it works. It's almost on the top billet holes on both sides, but I know I can find shorter long girths - there are enough hunter ponies out there being ridden. But I'm going nuts finding a NICE quality dressage girth, in super short lengths (like 16"). I wish I weren't such a sucker for uber high quality tack, but I am
Suggestions? I've seen the Unionville one at justforponies and I'm not thrilled with it.

For hunter girths for ponies we always got edgewood or beval. both make nice quality girths in itty bitty length, plain or sheepie-lined. We used a 36" edgewood plain leather and a 38" beval sheepie-lined on a small... For dressage, I am sorry to be of no help whatsoever.

I'd call Beval - they should be able to hook you up with one. I have a lovely 40" from them... |

For 16 inch dressage girths I ended up ordering Cottage Crafts from Divoza in Holland. SOrta silly geographic and financial path, but that's the only place I found them! (OK, brickwall is a slightly strong emoticon for the situation, but it's not like my po's are teeny, and they're sure not the only Meds and larges out there doing dressage...)

As an owner of a tack store and a breeder of ponies - I am always on the lookout for pony tack. Unfortunately tack for dressage ponies is almost non - existant. In 16" the only thing I know of is the synthetic types. Good luck though.... |

Bevals has lovely ones for under $60.00 in size 38 and 40. It's not an overlay girth, but very nice. Their overlay one runs about $80.00. Still a good price and very nice. I'd call them, ask them to mail out both, figure out which fits better and then send the other one back. If you do a google search on 38" leather girth, you will probably turn up some in other places and perhaps cheaper. |
