Ahhh V, I feel your pain! My guy was 16.1-ish when I got him as an older 2 year old and he string tested at 18 hands. I laughed at the thought! Here we are, some five years later (where did the time go ) and he's 17.3 -- AKA Big Tack. His dad is 16.3 and his mom is 16.1. His full sister is refined with a smallish frame, probably 16.2 tops. I've got a strange feeling little Frankie might be heading the same route as my guy |

Frankie is like Somerset, they both have no excuse for their bigness. For the love of all that is holy, Aristos B is 16.3 and Somerset's dam was a THOROUGHBRED! he has no excuse for being 17.2 and wide enough to be classified as a double wide ![]() All I ask of Frankie is that he not outgrow his current blankets for at least one more season. Then he can do what he'd like... but, um, I am quite happy with 16.2/3 and would rather we stay THERE! |

Hoping he stays in the 16.3 range. I can tell you falling from 17.3 hurts like hell...I just don't bounce the way I used to, now it is more like a thud. A painful thud.

Falling with my 15.3 TWH was no treat either. Darned gravity. I'll think stop growth thoughts for your horse! |

My DH bought a cool new camera, so I finally have some new photos of Skyler. Hooray! We went to a schooling dressage show today. We rode Training 1 and Training 2, scores 65.652 and 64.642, about the scores I expected considering what we've been working on. It was HOT HOT HOT but we had a nice day. I posted the videos at http://jn4jenny.blip.tv/, but as the scores indicate, they're pretty ho-hum rides. No major highlights. ![]() Skyler @ the Brenderup while I put my boots on (if you look closely, I am the crumped heap near the car wheels): http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w197/jn4jenny/Skyler%202010/DSC00118.jpg Amazing how the DH catches me at the worst possible equitation moment. But the horse looks good: http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w197/jn4jenny/Skyler%202010/DSC00152.jpg Not as good of a picture but more representative of the actual riding :http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w197/jn4jenny/Skyler%202010/DSC00145.jpg Cantering in warmup: http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w197/jn4jenny/Skyler%202010/DSC00154.jpg Debriefing with madame trainer: http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w197/jn4jenny/Skyler%202010/DSC00158.jpg Edited by jn4jenny, Aug 30 2010, 08:45 AM.
