A Burmese Python at Serpent Safari Park in Gurnee, Illinois, USA was billed as the heaviest living snake in captivity. In 2005, it weighed 183 kilograms (403 lb) at a length of 8.2 metres (27 ft). The record snake was named Baby, it died or was killed in Nov. 2006, at age 29. The cause of death and what became of her 403-pound body is something of a mystery, investigators found a 5-foot-long, 240-pound tail and the rest of the remains of a snake which apparently had been cut into pieces and dumped in a wooded area. Police confirmed the snake pieces found in a wooded back lot of a residence near Gurnee were those of Baby, certified by Guinness World Records as the heaviest snake in captivity.
