When I was in school, high school yearbooks were printed in black and white. U liked it that way then. That is changing today. 100-percent-color high school yearbooks are on the rise, and I am glad about that. Schools are increasingly switching to 100-percent-color yearbooks. Not only that, the idea has received a positive student reception. Therefore, the students love all-color yearbooks. The time required to prepare and print color is reduced. Costly film is eliminated and paper waste is reduced. All-color yearbooks are becoming a more and more affordable reality. Students love color anyway. I used to despise color and embrace black and white until the turn of the millennium. Nowadays, I have been loving color more. The power of color is making an impact in high school yearbooks. The yearbook audiences have been demanding more and more color. I would love to see my high school begin to publish yearbooks in 100% color. According to Jostens Learning Company: * Color stimulates and works synergistically with all of the senses. * Color vitalizes the visual message. * Color adds realism to photography. (Color produces realism unmatched by black and white and sepia.) * Color produces an aesthetic or emotional response. * Color is captivating and beautiful. (Black and white is not too captivating. Sepia is discaptivating and ugly.) * Color is exciting and emotional. By 2015, all U.S. schools will publish yearbooks in 100% color. |
