I very much prefer natural color photography. When I was in school, I embraced black and white and frowned upon color. First there was sepia toned photography. Then there was black and white photography. And finally there is color photography. Photography was originally done in sepia tone on an analog camera. It was later done in black and white. Today, photography is usually done in digital full color.

High school yearbooks are printed historically in black and white. They are increasingly going all color. By 2010, all high school yearbooks will be entirely in natural color.

Television was originally broadcast in black and white, but today it is broadcast in full color. In the early 1990's, I watched television in black and white.

The majority prefer natural color photography. A minority believe that black andh white photography captures their vision better.

The film "The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra" was shot in color, but converted to black and white in postproduction. It is presented in monaural sound.

Tom Cruise, you must be British. I use American English (and I am American), and you (Tom Cruise) use British English. "Color" is the way the word is spelled (or spelt) in American English. "Colour" is the way it is spelled in British English. The spellings "color" and "colour" are both accepted in Canada. The Federal Canadian government uses British English, while most Canadians use American English. The word "colourisation" is spelled "colorization" in American English.

For more information on American English vs. British English, go to this post.

If I am a photographer, I strongly prefer digital natural color photography, for I prefer modern stuff over vintage stuff. I would almost always photograph in color using digital cameras. If I must use monochromatic photography, then I would use black and white, and never sepia. Sepia photography is parachronistic (or too old to be used). Analog cameras are outdated. I would normally photograph in color, and occasionally in black and white. My natural color to black and white photo ratio is 256:1. If I do convert to black and white, I preserve the color original.

Photography should not be in violation of the InvisionFree Terms of Service. One thing I disagree about the InvisionFree Terms of Service is that it prohibits nudity. You should make your own photographs. I strongly encourage color photography. On this forum, because of my preference on color. your color photo to black and white photo ratio must be at least 16:1. Therefore, you can make one black and white photo for every 16 color photos. Sepia photography is off-limits on this board. I will not ban your for that, but instead, I will convert sepia photographs to black and white.

Borrowed from jostens.com:

* Color stimulates and works synergistically with all of the senses.
* Color vitalizes the visual message.
* Color adds realism to photography
(Color provides realism unmatched by black and white.)
* Color produces an aesthetical and emotional response.
* Students love color.

I prefer sepia for newborns and toddlers, black and white for children and for funerals, and color for everything else. I believe that sepia belongs to the 20th century.

Thats nothing! several years ago I watched a film that was shot entirely in black and white, and was completely silent right up until the very end.

I can't remember what it was called though :-(

When I was in school and before that, I was all about black and white and had disdain for color. I had absolutely no appreciation for color until I was in college. I had a habit of watching TV in black and white. During the second half of my tenure at Piedmont Technical College, I learned to appreciate the power of color; many prefer black and white mainly because they do not know how to appreciate color. I later found that color is better than black and white. I am appreciating color more and more, and I began to prefer color. Color is the most instantaneous method of conveying messages and meanings. Color provides realism unmatched by black and white. Readers increasingly and consistently ask for more color, and yearbook and newspapers staffs are responding by publishing the newspapers and yearbooks in all color. Color activates the right brain, especially for men. Color defines and identifies a person, product, service, business, institution, or publication. Color photographs command more attention than black-and-white photographs.

Would you want digital photo frames? They are LCD based. Color is better for LCD than black and white.

Do you think that black and white photography should be banned and its supporters killed?

it's much harder to create a hoax film than it is to create a hoax photo, which is why I don't even acknowledge the existence of photography
