| Welcome, Comrade, to Super LP Bros. Super LP Bros is a website mainly dedicated to the magical world of "Let's Play's". A Let's Play is a video or series of pictures in which the creator plays through a video game (usually from start to finish) and explains all about the game and shows off little-known details along the way. Page layout shamelessly stolen from Mecca's Sonic Megarace thread. I'm sorry!![]() Premise ******************** Super Metroid is known for being one of the most open, explorative games, with any number of places to potentially sequence break. The goal here is not speed, but to see just how many items you can get in the game without fighting a single boss or miniboss. Special thanks to BMS for putting together the promo video. Rules ********************
******************** Really I just want to see if anybody else is as For the very first submission, feel free to defeat Ridley in the Space Colony, and Torizo to get the bombs, since I don't think there is much you can do before that. What I would like to see is a series of videos like the third part of my own run, made public as an example. If all goes well, I may hold a poll to see who the first boss we fight is and what items are made available to us. I'll elaborate on how this influences scoring if we get that far. The Goods ******************** Power Suit - The first video section will be by far the largest, potentially containing over half the items in the game, and possibly taking more than an hour. As such, the winner of round one gets its own badge. Gravity Suit - Should this go into later rounds, the overall winner gets a badge. Speed Booster - Also, should this go into later rounds, the lowest overall time wins a badge. To win this though you must complete the game 100% and finish the bosses in the polled order. To prevent someone from going only for time, ignoring the rest of the competition. Mochball - Finally, this badge will be given to one person (that's not me), no matter how things go. This will go to the person with, in my own opinion, the most impressive run. Show me an unexpected trick, something I wouldn't have thought of, something unique.Participants ******************** BMS (75%) NakaTeleeli (68%) Jason (56%) MP201 (54%) Cfalconforever (52%) (drop out) Sharky2107 (drop out) Next Task ******************** -Record your run getting all items you can. -Save the videos as your name followed by the video number, and as either an avi or wmv (for example nakateleeli1.avi) -Keep it smaller than 150MB please. I can get an 11 minute video down to 80MB with DivX conversion, this shouldn't be hard. -Upload it to a file sharing site like mediafire and PM me the link right here on SLPB - OR upload it to YouTube (or wherever) and send me the link to the videos. -After the deadline has passed, I will total up the items for the participants and declare the winner! -If you can't make the deadline, you will be disqualified from the competition unless you appeal for a special consideration - I will give these out at my discretion Current Deadline for round 3: May 25, 11:59pm EST You may now kill Phantoon. So the goal is just to collect as many items as possible, and not necessarily to beat the game as well? I just want to confirm that there isn't some sort of glitch I'm unaware of to get into Tourian without killing Kraid, Phantoon, Draygon and Ridley. Super Metroid is one of my favorite games of all time, so I'll definitely participate in this. |

Nope, no need to beat the game. Just get as many items as possible. Once the first set's done, if there's enough people interested, I'll have a poll to determine which boss/miniboss we beat next, then we get as many items as we can for part two. Once we've run out of bosses we can take on Tourain for the finish. |

I'll certainly try this. Also Naka, are we allowed to use glitches to get items? Or this just a get as many items as possible without fighting a boss or breaking the game with glitches? |

I'll say probably yes, but before you do, I'd like to know what you mean by glitch. |

Now! With added WTF?
|
Boy that OP looks familiar :V Anywho... I may consider giving this a try (which is probably quite stupid since I ain't that versed in Super Metroid). I do have one question, do you want the entire run in one video, or chopped up if it too large? |

Whichever's easier for you. Maybe splice it up if the file gets too monstrous. Don't want people cheating off of each other though, so as long as the link's not given out publicly I don't mind. |

Is commentary expected, forbidden, or optional? |

Actually, disregard my previous post. none of the glitches i found affect this challenge since they deal with tourian/starting the game after beating it with all weapons etc. so yeah, the glitches i was thinking of occur way to late to affect this part of the challenge. guess i better get my wall jumping skills up =P |

I didn't intend to have commentary originally, but I won't forbid it, so it's optional I suppose. |

As a special case I'll say yes, but I want to be able to see the text on screen every time you save and load state. |

Uhhhhhh, Never mind about the special case, the save points work properly now. Also, by glitches, I meant like shooting a missile to open a door from the wrong side, and there were a bunch in a gamefaqs guide that described ways to glitch to get the gravity suit, screw attack, etc. I'll link the guide if necessary. |

In that case, I assume you're referring to this guide. Anything in that page is allowed EXCEPT the various incarnations of the Var beam. Not that I know of any use for the Var beam in this run, anyway. |
