Confirmed by US soccer earlier today...last game before the WC rosters must be submitted to FIFA.

The game will be played at University of Phoenix Stadium & will only include MLS and LigaMX players, most likely, as it's not a FIFA date.

The one issue is that the semifinals of the CCL will be that week...so, that could play major havoc with who will be available, depending on who's club is in the CCL semis.

Looking forward to that game and as you say with MLS and LigaMX players it will be the chance for those on the outside to make an impression. Too bad however that it conflicts with the CONCACAF Champions League semifinals, the MLS clubs still alive in the quarterfinals and US players potentially effected are: Los Angeles (Donovan & Gonzalez), Sporting Kansas City (Besler & Zusi) and San Jose (Goodson). I will let those who more closely follow the Mexican league list the potential mexico players who could miss out if any of these three Mexican clubs make the semifinals: Toluca, Cruz Azul and Tijuana. But the US could also miss out on Castillo, Corona & Gomez if Tijuana qualify for the semifinals.

Yes, I'll definitely remember to do that, Sammy Maudlin...thanks :P

I've actually seen USA-Mexico many times and, not sure, if anything will ever top 2001 & 2005 WCQs, but it should be fun...I'll just remember to eat, drink water & pace my drinking

Thanks, Johnbuildr...we will do our best to out-cheer their fans but this will be a tough test because of the location of the game.

For sure the USA team needs the Phoenix area USA soccer fan community to pull out all the stops or the tickets will be sold out to our arch rival in no time!

I guess this our next friendly now, huh?

Just posted in the Ukraine-US thread about the game which has apparently been cancelled less than 48 hours before scheduled kickoff. And what do I get in my banner ads at the top of the Futbol Forum page? Ads for mail order brides. From Ukraine, of course.

So why them am I getting a banner ad for Honey Nut cheerios? And AT&T U-Verse?

I ask in the Ukraine match thread that the US likely will just have to play an intra squad scrimmage on Wednesday. That at leats will give Klinsmann some idea of those players capability but do not expect any outsiders called in for Ukraine to make any push into the World Cup squad.

Now the friendly vs Mexico will be a different story, this will be the last chance saloon to make the World Cup squad.

FIFA have approved Julian Green's one time request for a change in FIFA eligibility and thus he can play vs Mexico.

The Washington Post's Steve Goff makes his roster prediction to face Mexico:

Goalkeepers

Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake)

Sean Johnson (Chicago Fire)

Bill Hamid (D.C. United)

Outside backs

Brad Evans* (Seattle Sounders)

DaMarcus Beasley (Puebla)

Michael Parkhurst (Columbus Crew)

DeAndre Yedlin (Seattle Sounders)

Center backs

Matt Besler (Sporting Kansas City)

Omar Gonzalez (Los Angeles Galaxy)

Clarence Goodson (San Jose Earthquakes)

Michael Orozco (Puebla)

Defensive midfielders

Michael Bradley (Toronto FC)

Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake)

Maurice Edu (Philadelphia Union)

Outside midfielders

Landon Donovan (Los Angeles Galaxy)

Graham Zusi (Sporting Kansas City)

Brad Davis (Houston Dynamo)

Julian Green (Bayern Munich II)

Luis Gil (Real Salt Lake)

Attacking midfielders

Clint Dempsey (Seattle Sounders)

Benny Feilhaber (Sporting Kansas City)

Forwards

Eddie Johnson (D.C. United)

Chris Wondolowski (San Jose Earthquakes)

Mike Magee (Chicago Fire)

*Calf injury, sat out league match over the weekend

Of note: Midfield candidate Jose Torres left Tigres’ weekend match in the 31st minute with an injury. His status is unclear.

Goff also notes,

U.S. players will report to Phoenix following this weekend’s league matches. The Tijuana delegation (Edgar Castillo, Joe Corona and Herculez Gomez) is not available because of involvement in the first leg of the CONCACAF Champions League semifinals next week. For the same reason, Mexico will not summon players from Tijuana, Cruz Azul or Toluca.
