Very interesting, indeed. Surprised, pleasantly, to see Bradley included, though wonder if TFC might be PISSED  :P  Not a fan of Castillo, Kljestan or Shea  <_<

Glad to see Green included but wonder if he'll play, rather than just train, & would an appearance in the friendly cap-tie him to the USMNT?

What I want to see but know I won't :

------------------Howard---------------
Cameron---Gooch----Brooks---Ream
-----------Bradley-----Mix-------------
Bedoya--------Dempsey---F. Johnson
-------------Altidore--------------------

Subs: Guzan, Morales, Williams, Jones, Agudelo, Johannsson, Green.

Green is only allowed to train, couple of days only, not eligible yet.

----------------- Howard
Cameron---- Gooch------Brooks-------Morales

---------------------Jones

---------Johnson-------------Mix

---------------------Jr

---------------Agudelo-------AJ

I believe Gaffer is right, Chandler certainly was, and probably still is, injured.

I too think it is a waste of time and and a waste of one of the precious few friendlies before the Cup to have a experimental back line in particular.

JK may have a slight bit more managerial experience than me, but now is the time to be building experience and confidence in your back line, not giving also-rans (with apologies to some fine players who are not top international material) "last chances" in the defensive middle.

UGH, Jurgee, not well thought out!!! :(

Great point, Gaffer...forgot about Chandler's injury

Thinking back, I think that JK was very impressed with his latest club form & would've called him up, if 100% healthy!

JK: “This is a huge game. We play Ukraine, which barley missed out on going to Brazil. They had a playoff against France, one of the best teams in the world. So you want to have a very strong team against Ukraine, and as I often mention our team is defined in its spine. The core group of the team is Tim Howard and then Michael Bradley, Jermaine Jones in midfield, Clint Dempsey in front of them and then Jozy Altidore up front. These five players build our spine."

What about the defensive component of your spine, man?

OK so if Chandler is hurt that still leaves open the door for im to make the World Cup squad.

I join the rest of you in thinking this is a strange roster considering this is one of the final friendlies before JK ahs to name the World Cup squad. The defensive experimentation is especially troubling.

As for the rest of the "spine" as the coach calls it. I am with Gaffer in wondering about Jones suitability there but I guess we have to accept the fact he is a Klinsmann favorite and will be starting in Brazil. Doesn't make me happy though.

Johannsson is the one player on this squad who I am really interested in seeing more of.

For those who do not know much about him, a story on Packwood, he is coming off a broken leg but has been playing centerback for Birmingham City in England. He also can play right back.

He is young, my guess is he has been brought in to get some experience for the 2018 qualifying cycle.

Bradley, Diskerud and Ream will not make the trip to Cyprus to play Ukraine. The reasons given,

Bradley will miss Wednesday’s game in Larnaca, Cyprus, with what U.S. Soccer described as a “small issue. Toronto FC open their 2014 Major League Soccer season March 15 in Seattle.

Diskerud has yet to return to full fitness, while Ream has been excused for “personal reasons.”

So Klinsmann will have the opportunity to look at other players in the team's spine. The problem is Bradley's best sub IMO is Diskerud so without either one of them Kljestan or Williams are likely to partner Jones in central midfield.

REALLY wanted to see Ream & Mix get some PT...as well as, Bradley!

Our backline is very shaky but the midfield is also questionable IMO...no Bradley or Donovan & Dempsey is not performing very well. I like Bedoya but don't trust Kljestan or Shea.

To be honest, my enthusiasm for this friendly has fallen, sharply <_<

The saga of this friendly gets murkier. Reportedly the car of the Cypriot who was supposed to ref the game was blown up.

Ream's wife just gave birth to a baby so that understandably is why he is missing this match. He was always a long shot for the team but missing this game makes that even a longer shot.

Not yet confirmed by the USSF but looks like game is off! Right decision IMO but this sure leaves our USMNT in a bind, especially those players on the fringe...no games involving our Euro-based players until Brazil <_<

Probably, should've cancelled this game the minute Ukraine started having problems & looked for another opponent.

Official the match is off. Wonder if the US can hurry up and schedule a friendly against Russia now? ;)

Seriously, I guess they will just play a scrimmage amongst themselves on Wednesday. Or perhaps USSF are scrambling to see if somebody, even a German club will play a friendly? It is too late to arrange a game against another national team.

This is the first time I can recall an out-and-out cancellation. I understand this and Ukraine FA has made the right decision.
