With the USMNT January camp ready to open on Monday, thought it might be a good time to talk about who we'd like to see called up, besides the obvious choices. I'd like to see DeAndre Yedlin, Seth Sinovic, Chris Schuler, John Brooks & Mike Magee called up and get a serious look. Anybody have other players they'd like to see included in the camp roster? |

I think there's a lot of interest in this roster, given that it's seen as part of WC prep, rather than the normal January-to-look-at-fringe-MLS-Scandanavian guys camp/friendly. That said, this is certainly an opportunity for a newcomer or two to force his way into the discussion. I like your suggestions af10. A few other guys I'd like to see are Luis Gil, Kelvyn Rowe, Chris Klute, Jack McInerney, Amobi Okugo. All of 'em are pretty young, I can where Magee types might be better bets in some sense, but I'd like JK to take a good look at some of the greener options, too. The roster will be released today? |

Ask and you shall receive Roosevelt! Here is the 26 man roster Klinsmann named for this training camp: GOALKEEPERS (4): Tally Hall (Houston Dynamo), Bill Hamid (D.C. United), Sean Johnson (Chicago Fire), Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake) DEFENDERS (10): Matt Besler (Sporting Kansas City), Brad Evans (Seattle Sounders FC), Omar Gonzalez (LA Galaxy), Clarence Goodson (San Jose Earthquakes), Michael Harrington (Portland Timbers), Chris Klute (Colorado Rapids), Chance Myers (Sporting Kansas City), Shane O’Neill (Colorado Rapids), Seth Sinovic (Sporting Kansas City), DeAndre Yedlin (Seattle Sounders FC) MIDFIELDERS (8): Eric Alexander (New York Red Bulls), Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake), Brad Davis (Houston Dynamo), Mix Diskerud (Rosenborg), Benny Feilhaber (Sporting Kansas City), Luis Gil (Real Salt Lake), Dax McCarty (New York Red Bulls), Graham Zusi (Sporting Kansas City) FORWARDS (4): Landon Donovan (LA Galaxy), Eddie Johnson (D.C. United), Mike Magee (Chicago Fire), Chris Wondolowski (San Jose Earthquakes) All the MLS regulars on the national team, except for the on-loan Dempsey. Diskerud is the only foreign based player included, but that is not a surprise, all the other foreign based players will be with their respective clubs. Plenty of newcomers who stood out in MLS play in 2013 like Sinovic, Harrington and Klute at left back, Yedlin and Myers on the right and O'Neill at centerback. In midfield Alexander and Gil get their chance while veterans Feilhaber and McCarty get recalled. And as suggested league MVP Magee will get his opportunity too. The camp, which runs from Jan. 6-Feb. 1, will be conducted across two continents. After six days in California, a 23-player group will base in Sao Paulo from Jan. 13-25 to give the players and staff a dry run of this summer’s tournament in Brazil. The team will then return to the U.S. Soccer National Training Center and face Korea in Carson, CA on February 1. |

I, too, like this camp roster. In addition to my SKC players, including newcomers Sinovic and Myers, I'm glad to see Dax McCarty get another look. I've always liked his game. I'm also a Tally Hall fan. |

It is a strong roster, probably the strongest January camp roster I can recall. A couple of omissions which surprised me: Juan Agudelo and Amobi Okugo both of whom had good MLS seasons and look to have bright futures. Agudelo's transfer to Stoke fell through so he would have been available for selection and Okugo is one of those players who can play either centerback or defensive midfield. |

Klinsmann apparently is happy with the fitness of all the players in camp so when the team travel to Brazil all 26 players, not 23 as previously mentioned, will be going to Sao Paulo. Klinsmann curious to see how Mike Magee performs. So are we Jurgen, so are we. |

Well, the US apparently played Sao Paulo FC in a scrimmage the other day but details and anything else from the training camp in Brazil have been pretty scarce. Maybe some of our Brazilian posters can fill us in on some more details? |

Heard that the USMNT lost the first scrimmage, 2-1...but won the second one, by the same scoreline. Unfortunately, no other details. |

http://www.socceramerica.com/article/55967...l?edition=11182 JK has trimmed the roster to 22 players for the friendly v South Korea...bit surprised that Seth Sinovic didn't make it but here's what I'd like to see in a starting XI: --------------------Rimando------------------- Evans-------Omar--------Besler--Harrington ---------------Mix------Beckerman----------- --Zusi-------------Donovan----------Magee-- -----------------EJ------------------------------ Subs: Yedlin, Goodson, Davis, Feilhaber, Gil & Wondo. Really hope Magee gets to start and want to see Yedlin & Gil get some good PT! |

I'm surprised as well by Sinovic being cut. Perhaps he would have held a spot if Parkhurst hadn't been recalled. The other cuts weren't a surprise. |

For the record here are the subtractions, and one addition to the US roster as related in af10's link: Juergen Klinsmann dropped five players from the group that has been together all month in California and Brazil: Colorado Rapids defenders Chris Klute and Shane O’Neill, Sporting Kansas City defenders Chance Myers and Seth Sinovic, and Houston Dynamo goalkeeper Tally Hall. He also added Columbus Crew defender Michael Parkhurst, who recently moved to MLS from Augsburg in Germany. With Klute and Sinovic sent home, Michael Harrington is the only natural left back on the roster but the versatile Parkhurst can also play there, can't he? |

A pretty good guess at the starting XI af10. While I too would like to see Magee get plenty of playing time to show whether he belongs at this level or not. My guess is Brad Davis will play on the left of midfield with Magee coming off the bench. The rest of af10's proposed team seems likely to me to start this game. |

Agree, Sammy Maudlin...if it's not Magee, it will be Davis at LM. I'm fine with it, as long as Magee gets some good minutes. |

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/world-cup-jur...37678--mls.html GREAT decision IMO...and, now have hope that Holden can make it to Brazil in June A fit, in-form & healthy Holden would only add to the USMNT midfield depth, especially with Fabian Johnson's recent hand injury...just hope he gets healthy enough to get serious PT at Bolton & stays healthy! |
