Going to kick off this WCQ topic with an invite to anyone on this board who will be in KC for the game to visit our modest tailgate RV party Friday, Oct. 11th from 10:30 am on. We will be at an RV Park, within 3 miles of Livestrong by 10:30 am Friday the 11th. Will be there until it's time to drive over to the main parking lot for the game. Drinks and snacks of various kinds provided to any from this board who can make it for a while. Let me know by email if you can make it, or might make it, and I will give the exact address and name of the place! Let's party like our boys have already qualified, eh!!? |

Wish I could be there John but I will be present in spirit. According to this article Michael Bradley and John Anthony Brooks won't be there either, both are out injured. But Klinsmann does expect to name both Clint Dempsey and Jermaine Jones to the team. Contrary to earlier reports Jones is not injured. |

Very disappointed that we won't be getting to see Bradley play in person. He's my favorite MNT player over the last two years or so. Smooth as silk and tough as nails at the same time. My, how nicely he has contiued to develope over the years! It will be very interesting to see what kind of sustained intensity the US brings to this game, having already qualified and with Jamaica in an absolute must win situation. |

Klinsmann says he will be taking these last two games seriously and views them as the start of preparation for the World Cup. Out injured for this game are: Cherundolo, Bradley, Dempsey, Fabian Johnson and Brooks. Plus still no recall for Chandler despite him playing now for Nuremberg. The US roster to face Jamaica and Panama: Goalkeepers: Brad Guzan (Aston Villa), Tim Howard (Everton), Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake). Defenders: DaMarcus Beasley (Puebla), Matt Besler (Sporting Kansas City), Geoff Cameron (Stoke City), Edgar Castillo (Tijuana), Brad Evans (Seattle Sounders), Omar Gonzalez (Los Angeles Galaxy). Midfielders: Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake), Alejandro Bedoya (Nantes), Mikkel Diskerud (Rosenborg), Jermaine Jones (Schalke), Sacha Kljestan (Anderlecht), Graham Zusi (Sporting Kansas City). Forwards: Jozy Altidore (Sunderland), Terrence Boyd (Rapid Vienna), Landon Donovan (Los Angeles Galaxy), Aron Johannsson (AZ Alkmaar), Eddie Johnson (Seattle Sounders). |

No Bradley, Dempsey or Fabian Johnson...and not overjoyed at seeing Castillo or Kljestan...but should be good enough to get good results v Jamaica & @ Panama! Here's what I'd like to see...but probably won't: -------------------Guzan----------------- Cameron----Omar------Besler-----DMB -----------Beckerman-----Mix---------- --Zusi-----------Donovan-----------EJ-- --------------Jozy------------------------ Subs: Evans, Bedoya, Johansson/Boyd. |

That's not too far off from what I'd like to see, AF10, though I imagine we'll see Evans for Cameron at right back and Jones for Diskerud in midfield. |

I agree with shelsoccer, Jermaine Jones will start. Evans or Cameron is pretty much a toss up in my eyes otherwise I think the rest of af10's proposed lineup is probable against Jamaica on Friday. look forward to reading the accounts from those from the message board who will be there. |

With Bradley out I am happy Kljestan made the roster for these two games. Although he ahs not shown much with the US he still keeps playing ell for Anderlecht so I think Klinsmann is correct in thinking one day he will start to reproduce that form for the US. but all parties know those opportunities are running short. Note Terrence Boyd also got a recall. His club form merits it too. |

Good points. Kljestan's continued success definitely warrants a call-up, but JK has mostly stuck him out wide, which isn't his game. I rather hope it's Cameron rather than Evans, who I still don't see as being a realistic first-choice WC starter. But honestly, after what has been a grueling summer on a personal level, I'm more than happy just to see my first live Nats match in years, experience Sporting Park, and with the 'victory lap' aspect to the game, it should be a pressure-free, fun evening, regardless of who is in the first XI. John---I've had a last-minute change of plans, but still hope to find you either pre-game or at the Stadium just to say hi. I'll ring your number Friday AM. [Anyone planning to attend the HOF induction ceeremony (Vermes, J-M Moore) at 2:30 that afternoon? I will not, as I don't think I'll be there before 3.] |

We will be at the first exit west of the venue just off I 70 Roos. I'll email you and anyone else who would like to stop by for a libation or two pre or post game. double disappointed not to get to see Dempsey in action this time. He and most everyone were a little hard to make out in the snow storm in Denver to start the year out.

Add Omar Gonzalez (hip injury) to the list of injury scratches from the US roster. His place will be taken by Michael Orozco. Strange how Clarence Goodson, who played well versus Mexico, was not called in, even after Gonzalez dropped out. |

John, include me in your pre- and post-game destination. I have some other friends from out of town in for the game, but I'll try to juggle. |

enganche, this article implies Klinsmann gave a concession to San Jose which has a game this week vital to their playoff hopes. He is letting Goodson stay with his club rather than select him for this match. I think Gonzalez' injury does, as the article's author also thinks, opens the way for Cameron to pair with Besler in central defense and that means Evans likely will be the right back. |

Starting to get very concerned about Omar Gonzalez' injury woes. When he started with the Galaxy, he was incredibly durable but, lately, it seems like he can't go through a stretch without having something happen <_< I agree with raconteur...think we'll see Cameron & Besler at CB and Evans at RB! Should work out well IMO! |
