It probably will help the US in the long run that their 12 match unbeaten streak ended. The US learned a lot of things from this loss, most of what has been discussed here. As the old saying goes, you learn more from a defeat than a victory Very true. Mostly I think Klinsmann has learned however that Orozco shoul not be playing right back and the US should not be playing ala Spain and/or Barcelona using a "false nine." Play a true forward not attacking midfielders masquerading as forwards. As for the Besler-Campbell incident, well Campbell ate him alive for most of the game but that was pure play acting which got Besler his card. Not sure what Besler could do, he does not have eyes in the back of his head to avoid contact with Campbell there. As manzanares wrote, though, don't blame the ref so much as the linesman who signaled the center ref about the "contact." he likely didn't see it either, just out of the corner of his eye thought Besler kicked Campbell. In league play that card would be rescinded, but not unfortunately in qualifying. |

I suppose it does no good to protest but Besler wasn't baited into anything. he literally did nothing wrong at all. |
