To be televised on ESPN2 at 230pm EST. Suspect a heavy dose of European-based players in this one. |

Should be interesting to see how many MLS-based players make the trans-Atlantic flight to Sarajevo. And what's the deal with the Liga MX guys...Beasley, Corona, Torres & Bedoya? My guess is that Donovan & Dempsey are "locks" for the roster and Omar, Besler, EJ & Zusi are possiblities...but, not sure, if JK will want to ruffle MLS coaches with another callup, for a friendly, when he'll definitely need them for WCQs in a few weeks. -------------------Howard----------------- Cameron-----???--------Brooks------??? -------------Jones-------Bradley--------- --Dempsey----Donovan----F. Johnson-- -----------------Altidore------------------- If JK doesn't callup Omar, Besler or the Liga MX guys, should be interesting who our starting CB, opposite JAB, & LB will be?

With Dempsey just starting out in Seattle, I seriously doubt JK call him up. And, as tight as the MLS races are, I think JK will be extremely selective in calling up any MLS players. (PS: Bedoya plays in Sweden, not Mexico.) |

Good point, shelsoccer...guess we'll see all or most Euro-based players! Thanks for the heads-up about Bedoya...forgot he's in Sweden, guess he'll be part of the roster! Any word on when the roster might be released? |

The roster should come out today or tomorrow. This is the klind of trip the US has not done enough of in the past when prepping for WC, and which it needs to do more of later in the year and early next year to become road warriors. They need to get past the comfort of playing at home if they want to be ready for Brasil. |

Dempsey may be given time off to adapt to his new club but I would not be surprised to see him in Sarajevo. And Donovan, Zusi, Besler, Gonzalez and Goodson will surely join him. This is a midweek game, I do not see any MLS or Mexico based players being held out of this one as Klinsmann seeks to consolidate the Gold Cup roster with the full team and this will be his last friendly until November in which to experiment a bit. |

This should be a good test for the US. Take a look at this Bosnian roster: GOALKEEPERS: Asmir Begovic (Stoke City/ENG), Asmir Avdukic (FK Borac Banja Luka/SER), Jasmin Fejzic (Aalen/BEL) DEFENDERS: Ermin Bicakcic (Eintracht Braunschweig/GER), Emir Spahic (Bayer Leverkusen/GER), Toni Sunjic (Zorya Lugansk/UKR), Mensur Mujdza (Freiburg/GER), Ervin Zukanovic (Gent/BEL) MIDFIELDERS: Miralem Pjanic (Roma/ITA), Senad Lulic (Lazio/ITA), Sejad Salihovic (Hoffenheim/GER), Adnan Zahirovic (VfL Bochum/GER), Elvir Rahimic (CSKA Moscow/RUS), Haris Medunjanin (Gaziantepspor/TUR), Miroslav Stevanovic (Elche/SPA), Zvjezdan Misimovic (Guizhou Renhe/CHN), Avdija Vrsajevic (Hajduk Split/CRO) FORWARDS: Vedad Ibisevic (VfB Stuttgart/GER), Edin Dzeko (Manchester City/ENG), Edin Visca (Istanbul BB FK/TUR) Some good players there. Bosnia lead their European World Cup qualifying group. |

So much for my opinion that the roster would be out by now. Must be a state secret only days before the team needs to assemble and leave for Bosnia. (It is impossible for me to believe that the players who are going on that big trip do not already know who they are. But heaven and the coaching staff only know why it is necessary to keep it a secret for a mere friendly.) Yes, it will be a helluva test to keep the US streak alive. Bosnia is deservingly rated in the top 15 in the world right now. |

Good to see Vedad Ibisevic, a former St Louis Billiken still playing with Bosnia. I used to watch him play for the Billikens. No doubt Bosnia will provide a good road test for the US. Seems as if every World Cup cycle there is a different ex Yugoslav republic who challenge, apart from Croatia the most successful in the post Yugoslav era. Slovenia and Montenegro have challenged in the past with Slovenia previously qualifying for several World Cups. Now it may be Bosnia's turn. Ironic that Serbia cannot seem to get its house in order though. Anyway Klinsmann's modus operendi for non tournaments has been to announce the US roster just a few days before the players report, so expect it to be released sometime this weekend. |

Well, not to pick nits, but now would be 'a few days before they report'. Surely they will report by Saturday, if only to get a couple of practices in before they board the plane, on what, Monday? Anyway, one would think the clubs and players know by now who will be missing for this weekend. |

Well, one report has it that JK won't release the roster until "Sunday or Monday". One would think that the team would leave the USA by Monday unless they want to arrive the day of the game, so it seems a little ridiculous to me that the roster won't be announced until that late date.

FYI...John Anthony Brooks, the 20-year old German-American central defender who plays for Hertha Berlin & a possible call-up for the USMNT, was not chosen for the German U-21 team...despite an invitation from the coach...for their friendly v France next week. That means that he must have accepted JK's invitation & should be included in the USMNT roster...looking forward to seeing him in action Agree, Johnbuildr...don't understand why JK is waiting, so long, to announce the roster <_< |

No surprise as this is what Klinsmann does before every friendly. The clubs obviously know if their players have been selected but he keeps this info out of the public eye. Not really sure why, particularly before a friendly but that has been his procedure. |

I beg to differ, RTF. Klinsmann has always waited until later than would seem necessary, but he normally does not wait to name a roster (not starting line up, but the roster) until a day or two before the game. Hell, he even named the Gold Cup roster three or four days before they had to begin reporting to camp. |
