Great, as always, to catch up with Winslow. Garbaggio was MIA. Would have loved to met TonyDE, but it was not to be.

Looked sold out to me. 47,000 was the count.

Altidore was dynamite. On one particular play, he had a world class collect, spin and slid a pass to Dempsey that, for me, was more impressive than anything else he did. It was notable that he slowly walked back to the center circle after he scored. I got the idea that he was salting Heir Klinsmann a bit with the move and soaking up the "Jozy!" chants. Typical, but the ego needs feeding. Hey, if he produces, I can live with it.

Besler scared me twice with very soft back passes to Howard. Something to watch moving forward.

Gonzalez had some nice speed, surprisingly. Beasley remains lightening quick in recovery. Speed Cannot be taught.

Castillo was lost and will probably be replaced....with an orange cone.

Brad Davis is a maestro with his set pieces and crosses. Too bad he cannot cover ground. I love him in MLS, but he may have too many years on him to go ninety at the international level.

Jones was very strong on the ball. Ditto for Bradley.

I will take the friendly win. We showed danger, but I was not convinced we had the cohesion needed for the long run. Jamaica will give us problems with speed, but that is their strongest point. Physically, we will be fine against the rough and tumble Reggae Boyz. The heat in Kingston may be a factor.

Dempsey is a stud. We still need Donovan no matter how we spin this.

Apparently, we beat Germany last in the 1999 Confederations Cup with goals from Eddie Lewis and Joe Max-More. I think that was in Mexico. Vaguely recall it. We had last played Germany before the 2006 WC and lost in Germany, 1-4.

Well, it was fun, wasn't it? Just like a fiendly should be, unless you are going directly into qualifiers like the US is. The Germans were just not into it until the last 20 minutes, tbh.

I still think the US defense is very unsettled. When the Germans got really serious and turned up the heat, we were back on our heels, scrambling in the back.

Vince is right, Castillo is toast, or should be. Probably the most overwhelmed player on the pitch.

Josy was sure good, but my heavens he was getting all kinds of service! When have we last seen so many near perfect crosses and long balls in the attack in one game? Looong time.

Don't know what it is about Bradley other than the obvious, cool, calm & collected. One reason is that he plays almost straight up in posture, with his head on a pivot, always looking around and knowing where every other player is, friend or foe. Allows him to pass last second in any direction as he always knows where to get rid of it without losing possession. Need many more with that exact capability.

Joones was so solid and covered a lot of ground. One of his best days in my memory.

Howard's had better days, but of course he wasn't bad.

Vinnie was right twice in one post, we still need Donovan to make this team better. (kidding V.) If we had him and the defense settles in, qualifying would be nearly in the bag.

A good match for Altidore and Dempsey to continue their on field understanding. Getting those two attackers on the same page will be vital for the rest of qualifying. The same applies to the Gonzalez-Besler defensive combination.

Kind of interesting to see Fabian Johnson playing left midfield and DaMarcus Beasley at left back but both are interchangeable. I would not count Castillo out even though he played poorly against Germany. That match was played on a Sunday afternoon and Castillo had just arrived at camp after playing Thursday night in Belo Horizonte, Brazil when his club Tijuana were eliminated by Ronaldinho's Atletico Mineiro from the Copa Libertadores. Castillo was both tired and not acclimated to the team, with more time in camp, like this week of training, I think he will fit in and will remain an option for either Beasley or Johnson on the left.
