As for Beasley, his conversion to a defender reminds me a bit of the similar conversion of Tony Sanneh in 2002, and look how well that worked out!

Nice comparison! If the US was to play a qualifier tomorrow I think Beasley and Donovan are the only two from this roster who would challenge for a starting job with everybody healthy but no question Gomez, Wondolowski, Corona, Diskerud, Torres, Holden, Goodson, Orozco and Parkhurst will all still be under consideration. And Rimando too as the 3rd choice goalkeeper.

I like Torres as a central midfielder but Klinsmann is forced to play him on the left and Torres is just not suited to play there at this level (lack of speed.)

I too think Torres is better centrally but Klinsmann does keep playing him wide left because the other options there on this team-Shea and Castillo, are not exactly ideal.

And Klinsmann seems to want to have Beasley concentrate on developing into a left back. His improvement over the summer has been pretty dramatic.
