How long should a turf toe take to fully recover? I know each situation is different, but anyone has experience with one of these?

It was about 10 years ago but mine took about 3 or 4 weeks to heal. Rest and ibuprofen did the trick for me. I did not have any recurrences but iced my toe for about 4 months afterward.

Good luck and get back on the field soon!

Thanks. It is not me. I run too slow to pull anything of importance. My nephew needs to start college training this summer and his toe is becoming a lingering problem.

My experience was similar to Yogi's, rest for about 3 weeks helped me return without any pain in the toe. And like Yogi to make sure no more pain developed, I too iced it after playing for several months after I returned to playing.

Ditto for me too, 3-4 week rest should get your nephew back as good as new.

As usual, this board has some accurate and good advice.

I will add that it is mentally tough for a guy of his age to stay off his foot for that long, for long enough for it to heal. Particularly when he is dying to train to be 110% ready for college.

But the worst thing he can do is keep pushing it, or keep trying to come back before it is ready.
However, while he is mending he can do a lot of weight training and even some leg weight and exercise machine training to stay in condition.

He should consult a good trainer and do all he can to stay in tip top shape, except that which would prolong the turf toe injury.
