Look how many of the players nominated here as brief flashes in the pan ended up on World Cup winning teams, Grosso, Guivarc'h and Kleberson. All good choices and players who used their brief stretch of good form to win the ultimate prize in the sport.

Ibrahima Ba was also brought up, he came to Milan highly heralded after a brief time starring with France but he did disappear quickly and never had any impact at Milan. I think he had some injuries but mostly his downfall was attributed to a loss of confidence.

Interesting that Ibra is still starting for ACM as of yesterday though. And still coming up way short. :(

John,

raconteur was referring to Ibrahim Ba the right wing from France, not Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Here is Ba's wikipedia page:

Interesting to read he is now a scout for Milan in Africa and his young brother is with Milan's youth team.

oops. I read raconteur's post too close to watching last night's AC Milan UEFA match with Ibrahimovic's poor showing. Shows my lack of thorough knowledge of the names and history of these guys. Should have noticed the Ba part of his name. sorry.

No worries John, it is not easy keeping track of all of these guys. He may not have ha dmuch success at Milan but it is good to see Milan have given Ba a job of scouting in Africa for them. And he is paying them back by sending his young brother there!
