The 2010 US World Cup jersey:

I am not all that thrilled by the attempt to copy the 1950 look. But marketing views rule.

At least it is not a solid diagonal sash instead it is very faint just like many 1994 era uniforms had a faint imprint on them. Remember Mexico's with the imprint of the Aztec calendar?

Hey, if Walt Bahr endorses it, who am I to argue?

They need to put red shorts with it.

All of our National team unis of late have been far too lacking of the RED in the red, white, and blue tradition if you ask me. Its like red is not even a consideration for trim anymore.

That I think is a good suggestion John, maybe you should change your screen name from JohnBuildr to JohnDesgner!

In all seriousness though, John's point is a good one, red shorts, with this new shirt would be a good combnation.

haha, I know John and that new name so well describes him...Not!

As for the new uniform, I am not a big fan of the diagonal stripe but Nike wants that throwback look in the hopes it can sell more shirts. At least the diagonal stripe is not that noticeable.

I liked the 1994 first uniform with the vertical red stripes mimicking the flag's design even if it did look a lot like Paraguay's uniform. That shirt met John's wish for incorporating some red into the uniform.

Now those denim like 2nd shirts from 94 with the stars is another story, perhaps the worst uniform the US has ever had.

A Paraguay shirt seen in a funhouse mirror, perhaps.

Still better than the "denim" version, though:

I still have one of those 94 "funhouse" mirror jerseys in my closet. The only US jersey I have ever owned. Granted it would look better with straight vertical stripes but still I think is a nice looking shirt.

Martin obviously doesn't know that John is the Calvin Klein of Omaha.

What's a Calvin Klein? :)

I dunno, Martin, those curvy stripes make me a little dizzy.

It kind of drives me a little crazy, with all the cool kits out there around the world, that they can't even come close to coming up with a flashy, cool design for the US unis. Apparently they do need some help from Omaha! :D

But didn't the stars kit come with red shorts?

That denim color was not great, but it was better than England's change strip from a few years later--a nasty shade of blue-gray. England wore those shirts against Germany in the Euro 96 semis, in spite of a tabloid campaign to bring back red shirts to evoke the '66 WC final.

Yes, the stars kit had red shorts.

And yes, that England kit was also dire:

I'm not thrilled with the home one...preferred the diagonal sash to be blue or red, not gray <_<

But love the away blue jersey...and, actually, got it through Eurosport & can't wait to wear it on June 12th ;)

I also see no problem with the 1950 analogy...it was 60 years ago!

USA shirt now compared with the previous, it's a lot less.

Remove sign, at best, is an ordinary t-shirt.
