You have to check out this ad in Mexico for a quiniela, a lotto like game where you pick a week's futbol winners, featuring Landon Donovan: http://www.nolachingues.com/2010/01/landon...e-tv-en-el.html It is hilarious, reminds me of that Diego Maradona ad for a Brazilian soft drink where he has a nightmare he is playing for Brazil! Good job by Donovan doing this ad, shows his sense of humor. For the non Spanish speakers, Donovan tells the border guard it is easy to win in Mexico, when he says, "What?", the reply is "With Gana Gol" the name of the quiniela. The guard says, "For me, not for you, now get back home, get going" and Donovan as he walks away calls him, "Lero" slang for culero or asshole! |

That is a great commercial! Full props to Donovan for doing it. What I think is funny is that Donovan who speaks passable but accented Spanish, intentionally mispronounces, "I am Mexican" at the beginning of the ad when confronted by the Mexican border guard. There is a market both in Mexico and in Spanish language media in the US for further Donovan commercials. Could be a good way for him to pad his income. Martin is right though that like that Maradona commercial for the Brazilian soda, this is a clever way to use a star of your country's chief rival, in an advertising campaign. |

Very funny and a clever idea using Donovan for the ad. Donovan's ability to speak Spanish does make him more marketable on both sides of the US-Mexico border and this ad is only one sign of that. |

That is a very good ad with Donovan. By the way here is the Maradona ad for the Brasilian soft drink, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=404QlcZPgRI This was made prior to World Cup 2006. |

Both adverts are good, thanks for posting them! If Landon Donovan can speak Spanish, perhaps he's gone to the wrong Merseyside club? He'd fit right in over the other side of Stanley Park! |

Have you got anything about football to say, Iceman, or are you just posting gibberish? This is a good site and I wouldn't want to see it taken over by a troll. Sorry if it's not my place to say this, so delete if necessary. |

Well said Sporting! This Iceman has said nothing in all of his posts. This forum is for discussion of the sport not just 1 line incomprehensible gibberish. |

Enough of the one line posts which look more like a teenagers text message. This message board is for intelligent football discussions not a series of one line responses agreeing with somebody else post. |

Yeah, come on mate, the board doesn't need a cheerleader! We're not having a pop, but read the other posts and get a feel for what the place is all about. Without wanting to be harsh your posts to date remind me of the old thought exercise, to paraphrase - 'if infinite iceman778s were let loose on an infinite number of typewriters, eventually one of them would type the works of Shakespeare (or at least post something useful about football)'. No doubt you'll completely agree with me, that tends to be your theme. |

Iceman's posts are temporarily going to be subject to review by a moderator before they appear on the forum. This is because his posts have been lacking any substance at all. |
