Yes congratulations to Atletico and our Atletico supporter Manzanares. Some tense ending but it looked to me like Atletico always appeared more dangerous in this match especially after Zamora went off still suffering the effects of his injury. Dempsey came on for him but was pretty ineffective at forward. Forlan is such a smart forward, always moving into the right positions and knows how to stab the ball in when he gets close to goal. |

haha, great picture! For those who do not know the neptune fountain in Madrid is where Atletico fans traditionally go to celebrate their club's triumphs. Real Madrid's fans go to the Cibeles for their celebrations. Well done to Atlético on the win, this was a big event for both clubs and they showed big match nerves but Atletico ahd the match winners in Aguero and Forlan, that to me was the difference between the two clubs. |

Manzanares is probably hung over now which is why we have not heard from him yet! Congratulations on your club's win. Hard fought game where as others wrote, both clubs appeared a little nervous but calimocho put it well, Atletico with Forlan and Aguero had a pair of match winners and that is how they pulled out the win just when it was looking headed to the lottery that are penalties. There were better finals in recent years in the old UEFA Cup but as in that competition, a club not accustomed to winning much, has become champions. That is good to see. |

Felicidades manzanares, just stay away from the Cibeles! ![]() Include me with those agreeing with calimocho's conclusion that the big difference in this match were Aguero and Forlan's ability to make the big plays. I really did not expect Aguero to run down that long ball in the corner which led to the game winner. The guy has some wheels on him even in minute 116. So first time in my life I have witnessed Atletico winning a European trophy.

It was a great run by Fulham and they gave it their all but sadly the injuries to Zamora and Duff did hinder their play. Fulham can hold their heads up high and it does look like Hodgson will stay there. Al Fayed just sold Harrods so he may have a few extra quid lying around to help out Fulham next season. Anybody else notice Hugh Grant was at the match? I knew he was a West Ender, just did not know he supported Fulham. Well done to Atletico Madrid, they were for me the better overall team on the day and few can begrudge them this title. |

I'm happy for Diego, always a trier and a really nice bloke. Not exactly a rip-roaring success at Manchester United but he's more than found his feet elsewhere. Apparently he and Alex Ferguson keep in touch and speak quite frequently on the phone, perhaps Fergie has phoned through his congratulations already! |

First of all thank you to everyone for the good wishes on Atlético's Europa league triumph. It was a long time coming but was very enjoyable. 48 years since our last European trophy and 14 since the last domestic one for Atlético. It was not easy and that was to be expected, one thing we colchoneros[/i[ know is nothing comes easy in this sport but it was an enjoyable triumoh and enxt week we go for the doblete, the double! Fulham were a very determine dopponent and they came back well after Atleti dominated the first half. Getting that goal on one of their first attacks certainly helped Fulham's confidence but Atlético in the extra period did show more freshness and gvae the impression they could eventually break through and score. It took 26 minutes but eventually came and I can only agree with those who commented on how Aguero and Forlan were the difference between the two clubs. Not only are both good finishers but each do work very hard which makes them a difficult duo to contain. I am proud of my club's performance and happy they have become the first ever winners of the Europa League. Now on to the Copa del Rey! |
