okay tiny ass profile till i do a bigger one later Real Name- Hitomi ???? Alias- Q (Quinn)
--- " How can you even tell?!" The taller boy spat at her, crossing his arms in an attempt to scare her.
"It's obvious." The girl stood her ground. "If you didn't take it , then explain that?" She pointed to the taller ones shoes. " All Rena does is paint in her room. If you weren't the one who stole it, explain the marks on your shoes."
"I-" The boy cursed to himself. "What if I wanted to paint and got some from the store, huh?!"
"You don't paint, Mello." The girl grabbed his hands, inspecting the paint smudges on them. " But you did sneak into Rena's room. You wear a size 7 and you're the only one here who wears that brand of sneakers. The footprints even match. Everyone else here has an alibi but you."
"Wow, looks like she has you cornered, Mello." A boy next to him snickered.
"Shut up Matt!" The blonde ripped his hands from Quinn's, turning to face him.
"If you're going to commit a crime, try not to leave such blatant evidence." She gave them a flip of her long black hair, and walked away. "You're wasting everyone's time."
"This-" The older blonde was livid. "This isn't over, Quinn!"

tinyyyy profile-
name- elizabeth alias- Tara
-----------------
The young girl, along with most of the other children, watched the whole spectacle unfold. She sat at the table, leaning on her hand and trying to suppress giggles as Quinn essentially told Mello off. Though she was fond of the blond, he was often rather big-headed and needed to be put in his place every once in awhile.
As Quinn left, Tara rose from the table and approached the angry, embarrassed boy and his companion. Before she had even said anything, Mello turned towards her and snapped, "Don't say anything."
He was older than her, and the unspoken rule of the orphanage was to do what the older children told you to. The brunette only nodded a little, though she cast a sidelong glance at Matt, who was still smirking.
"I can't beleive her..." Mello growled under his breath, still fuming.

"You know, I think you should calm down, Mello." Matt put a hand on the older boys shoulders. " And next time maybe hide the evidence a little better. " He couldn't help but start to laugh again.
"Shut UP Matt!" Mello fumed, whipping his head around to glare at the younger girl, who had taken up to reading at a table in the corner. " I swear I'll get her back for this." He hissed. " Matt, Tara, let's go."

"Go where?" Tara asked, almost exasperatedly. "It's raining, we can't go outside." She was rather sure that Mello didn't know exactly where he wanted to go, only that he wanted to be away from Tara.
But Mello had already begun to walk away, expecting his two minions to follow him. Matt shrugged his shoulders, putting a hand on her shoulder before gesturing that they should follow.

Quinn watched as Mello made his dramatic exit from the main living room, and as soon as he was gone, everyone else in the room sighed in relief. It was always tense when Mello was around. It was just how he was. --- "So...what exactly are we doing here?" Matt rocked back on his heels. " I mean I'm sure you need space to cool off after the sick burn Quinn gave you."
"If you say one more thing, I swear to god Matt-"
"Okay, okay!"

Tara had sat herself down on the floor, watching as Mello dug out a bar of chocolate and began to eat angrily. Matt sat on the floor nearby, and they both waited for the blond to become talkative again.
It was awhile, and three chocolate bars, later until Mello had finally mellowed out. He looked at the two on the floor, they had taken to playing cards to keep busy, and frowned. "I have to get revenge."
The two looked up from their game wearing equally unamused faces. "Mello..." Tara warned, taking a deep breath. "That doesn't sound like a very good idea..."
The ginger opened his mouth to agree, but Mello cut him off. "She humiliated me. I have to do something to get her back."

"But what?" Matt gave his friend a grin. "She's too smart to be taken by suprise. Especially by you."
"We'll figure something out!" He snapped back.
"Ooh! Wait, I know!" Matt's eyes went wide. "What if we put hot sauce in her coke!"
"That's a stupid plan." Mello retorted.
Tara thought about it for a few moments while Mello and Matt argued over revenge plots. Was this really going to be a good idea?

"We don't have to think of it right now." Mello muttered, getting a little tired of Matt's ridiculous suggestions. "It needs to be perfect. It's worth taking a little time to come up with."
"Wait." Tara said suddenly. "Remember when we read And Then There Were None? That mystery book by Agatha Christie?" She still wasn't sure that it was a good idea, but Mello always got what he wanted, anyways.
"All of Agatha Christie's books are mysteries, but yes. What's your point?" The boy was suddenly intrigued.
"Well...it was an unsolvable mystery, right? The best way to get her back would be to create a mystery that she can't solve." Part of the reason she was telling him was that she didn't think he'd be able to mke it happen

"That's it!" Mello snapped. " I'll just have to give her an unsolvable mystery. That'll show that little brat."
"Unlucky for you, no mystery is unsolvable." He jumped when he heard her from the doorway. "That's just the way things work."
"You!-" Mello hissed. "How long have you been there!"
"Long enough for your master plan to come to fruition." She blinked, completely indifferent. "Why is this so important to you? If you don't want to be caught, just don't commit the crime."
Mello's face got red with anger, and he raised a finger. "Listen here you little brat. I am going to create a mystery so big and grand and unsolvable, that not even you, ' detective of the house' can solve." He towered over her. " You hear that?!"
"Mello..." Tara groaned. " Can't we just leave it alone?"
"No! This is a matter of pride! You watch yourself Quinn, because you're gonna get what's coming for you."
"I look forward to seeing what you come up with." She replied.
Clearly, that was not the response Mello was looking for, and he made a frustrated scream. " Just scram!" He fumed.
"I wonder who will win? A ruthless warrior, or a detective sworn to seeking the truth?" Quinn just gave a small smile, accepting the challenge. "Until then."
But the ' unsolvable mystery' never came. Not too long after, a new child, one given the name Near, came to the orphanage, that outshone even Quinn's light.
Quinn slowely became a small whisper in the back of his mind, as his competition with Near became more and more self consuming. basically mini time skip like it could be anything from a month to a year so they're still in the orphanage yehaw

"That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard."
Tara glanced up from her book only to hear Mello and Matt arguing, again. Over the wording of a sentence, of all things. It was a welcome break from the usual arguments that they engaged in, over serious political issues -- things that children outside of Wammy's wouldn't concern themselves with.
The blonde had been consumed with writing, lately, furiously typing things out that he would later ask Tara and Matt to proof for him. He was rather good at it, actually. Matt was occupied with his gameboy. A new Pokemon game had just come out, and he hadn't put it down since Rodger had gone out and gotten it for him.
But one thing that weighed heavily on all three -- and probably just about everyone at Wammy's- minds was the newly beginning Kira investigation. When they had heard that L had 'appeared' on Japanese TV, nearly everyone in the orphanage had gathered around Matt's laptop to watch a rip of the broadcast on YouTube. Nearly every child followed the case with religious intensity; almost ironically countering the Kira cult that was slowly forming overseas. Everyone wanted to know everything that their idol was up to. Mello, though, was particularly interested.
"Do you think L will go to Japan?"
Tara's question ceased the two boys' bickering and attracted the attention of a few other nearby children.
Mello was the one to answer, as Tara and Matt both knew he was the bets informed of the three of them. "Of course he will, if he thinks that it's the right thing to do. He'll go where ever he has to to make sure that Kira is caught and punished. He did promise, after all."
The younger boy and girl nodded their heads earnestly. "He's right, L's gonna get him. That guy won't even know what happened when L swoops in and sends him to jail." Matt added, taking his attention off of the Pokemon game for a few moments.
"L doesn't 'swoop' into anything." The brunette laughed a little before growing a little more serious. "I'm a just a little worried. He's always worked from behind a curtain, hasn't he? So, if he puts himself out in the open...I'm just concerned he'll be too vulnerable. His social skills are a little..."
Her skepticism was met with small gasps from some of the other children, but Mello only calmly --how uncharacteristic for him to remain calm after someone has 'insulted' his idol-- shook his head. "You're just reading a little too deeply into it. He may go to Japan, but that doesn't mean he'll put himself out in the open or anything. And even if he does, Watari will keep a close eye on him. He'll just come off as the hikikomori brat son of a rich old man to anyone he encounters on the street."
Matt choked on his Mountain Dew.
"I just hope he comes to visit before he leaves." Tara sighed, closing her book and pushing it to the side. "Last time he came I was in the hospital for my appendix, remember? I just have a feeling this case won't be easy for him."
"Stop being such a cynic. He's never failed before, has he?"

"We'll have to wait and see who wins." Quinn, who had been reading quietly in a corner, looked up at the trio. "It doesn't matter how much we cheer him on. This is a death match between L and Kira."
"Excuse me?!" Mello whipped his head around. "Are you saying L's going to lose?!"
"I'm not saying anything. I'm just saying that discussing this every day isn't going to help him win. If you want to help bring Kira to justice, then that's a different story. Get involved instead of droning on about it."

"It's sort of hard to get officially 'involved' when we haven't even gone through puberty yet." Tara said crudely, but not unkindly. "No one takes children seriously. We're all too green."
With a sigh, Matt closed his gameboy and pulled the sucker out of his mouth, settling in for a long debate. "She's right, Quinn. There's no way for any of us directly involved unless L or Watari want us to, which I highly doubt will happen."
"We all aren't as justice-obsessed as you are." Mell huffed, closing his laptop lid slightly. "Of course we want Kira to be caught."

"That doesn't stop me from trying." She picked up her book and headed for the door. "I just want to find the truth. If that happens 8 years from now, so be it. But in the end the truth will be revealed. So I'll try to find it no mater what odds are against me." She turned back to look at the trio one more time, and Tara thought she caught a look of concern on the girls face before leaving the room.
"...That girl. She's in over her head. "Matt sighed, turning his game back on.
"She's a psycho, that's what she is." Mello groaned. "She's never going to have any friends."
"...I think..." Tara started, remembering the look on Quinns face. "Quinn is the most worried out of all of us."
"What?" Mello looked like she was an idiot. "She's just a self righteous brat who thinks she's better than everyone. She's almost as bad as-" He took time to glare at Near, who was sitting across the room.
"Well, sure, Quinn's always been a little ...distant." Tara tried to explain. "But, I think out of all of us, she just wants to help L in anyway she can. I mean...this is a dangerous case for L. Everyones worried. And she Idolizes him as much as we do. So I think she just...wants to make the most of her abilities. To help."
"We just got done telling her that no one's gonna listen to a bunch of kids. What does she expect to do?"
"Try, I guess." Tara sighed.

"I'm gonna work for the government when I get older." Tara resolved, looking at the two boys she spent nearly all of her time with. "Does that sound like a good idea?"
"Sounds boring." Matt looked up from Mello's laptop for a moment. "I'll pass."
"What made you come to that decision? Seems pretty split-second to me." Mello didn't look up from his homework, but a small smile came onto his face.
"Well, I was just thinking about how I could be useful to L when I'm older... And he works with all the world's governments all the time, so...having a high-ranking woman on the inside certainly wouldn't hurt." She paused for a moment. "I could focus on Japanese politics, if the Kira case isn't solved soon. But then I could be useful even when Mello becomes L."
It was forbidden in their little group to even mention the possibility of Near becoming L.
"Huh, that actually sounds like a good idea." Mello nodded a little, knitting his eyebrows as he worked through the hard math slowly.
Matt frowned for a moment, eyes squinting at the laptop for a few moments. "Hey, guys."
The ginger's unusually serious tone caused the both of them to look at up at him expectantly.
"What is it, Matt?"
"Kira killed B." He muttered, turning the laptop to face Mello and Tara. The headline, spelled out in a much larger font than the rest of the text, read: 'LABB MURDER DIES IN PRISON; HEART ATTACK SUSPECTED. COULD THIS BE THE WORK OF KIRA?'

"Really?" Mello's least favorite person besides Near spoke up behind them.
Quinn leaned in, trying to read the screen. "Interesting."
"Quinn I don't think now is the best time-" Matt caught a glance at Mello's expression.
"I'm simply asking if I can take a look at the article."
"You don't need to look at the damn article!" Mello suddenly shouted, slamming the laptop shut. "Jesus!" He stood up, shoving Quinn out of the way, storming upstairs.
