Welcome ladies, gentlemen, kids of all ages, crews, and drivers to 12th and final round of the 2016 SNRA Southern Fryed Drag Tour here at the Sunshine Nationals at New Jacksonville Speedway in Jacksonville, Florida. We've finally had a pleasant week, weather wise. The temps are in the high 60ís.

Tonight is the final event for 2017. Weíve had five different winners in the first eleven events. Itís been a close fought battle with Kevin usually holding a small lead. His lead is a slim two points over newcomer, Otto. These two drivers are the only ones still with a mathematical chance of being the 2017 SNRA Southern Fryed Drag Tour champion.

So let's go racing and see who it will be. Our first pair are the winner of Races #3 and #8, and tonightís fast qualifier, Paul D. "Speed Merchant" Smith. Speed is driving the 310 Cu. In. Aluminum Small Block "Chevy" powered, "Little Feather" Junior Fuel Dragster, prepared by last yearís champions, Historic Racing Associates.

VS

His teammate, winner of Races #7,9 and #11, reining 2016 Southern Fryed Drag Tour champion, L. Edward "ET" Foot. "ET" is driving the 392 Cu. In. Dodge Hemi powered "Tin Box" B/Fuel Competition Coupe, also for the Historic Racing Associates.

The divers do their burnouts and stage. "ET" roars off with a .9 second lead. Speed charges off after him. "ET" is having traction problems and is unable to hold off Speed. Speed will move into Round 2.

Has a checkered past.

Stand on it....brakes only slow yoou down.

VS

The winner of Race #1 Dirttrack Dave. Dave will be driving his 1972 Nova SS-Pro stock powered by a 454 big block sponsored by Valvoline Oil, called Old Poo.

Both do burnouts and stage. Dave charges off with a 3.2 second head start. Kevin really smokes his tires, but can not find enough traction. Dave hangs on and is going to Round 2 with the win.

This brings up our last pair in Round 1. The winner of Races 2, 5, and 6, rookie Otto Varoom. Otto is driving the 425 C.I.blown Buick Nailhead, Alky powered "what The----Altered".

This season's hard luck, and only win less driver, Barry Kuta. Barry driving the beautiful SVO Mustang II Trubo powered by 2,300cc's. Prepped by DIRT and sponsored by the Durango BBQ and grill and Jameson Irish Whiskey.

They stage, after warming their tires. Barry roars off with a 1.9 second lead. Otto gets a great start and hooks up. He beats Barry by a fender. Otto will be the last to move into Round 2. Otto is now only one point behind Kevin in the 2017 points race.

Please return for Round 2 after our short break. This is getting good.

Has a checkered past.
