Welcome ladies, gentleman, crews, and drivers for Race #9 of the 2017 Southern Fried Nationals at Rockingham Dragway, in Rockingham, North Carolina. We have some nice warm weather with today’s highs in the 60’s and current temps in the mid 60’s.

We have completed 2/3 of the season. In our first eight events of 2016 we have had five different winners. There is only 4 points separating the top 4, with Kevin and newcomer Otto again tied for first. So, let's go racing and see who will be the Spring Thunder champion.

Our first pairing tonight is the winner of Race #3 and #8, Paul D. "Speed Merchant" Smith. Speed is driving the 310 Cu. In. Aluminum Small Block "Chevy" powered, "Little Feather" Junior Fuel Dragster, prepared by last year’s champions, Historic Racing Associates.

VS

Current co-points leader and winner of Races 2, 5, and 6, rookie Otto Varoom. Otto is driving the 425 C.I.blown Buick Nailhead, Alky powered "what The----Altered".

Posted Image

Both drivers do their burnouts and stage. Otto cuts a perfect light as he roars away with a .9 second advantage. Speed seems a little slow and does not catch Otto in time. Otto moves into Round 2.

Has a checkered past.

Stand on it....brakes only slow yoou down.

Our second pair is our other current co-points leader and winner of Race #4, Kevin Sassman. Kevin driving his Dodge Red Ram hemi powered Fiat Topolino prepped by the Uncle Verde race team and sponsored by Hellion Speed Equipment.

VS

Our only winless driver, Barry Kuta. Barry is driving the beautiful SVO Mustang II Trubo powered by 2,300cc's. Prepped by DIRT and sponsored by the Durango BBQ and grill and Jameson Irish Whiskey.

Both drivers smokem and stage. Barry roars away with 2.5 seconds in hand. Kevin charges after him, but smoke is coming from the engine. He shuts it down. Barry is in Round 2.

That brings up our last pair in Round 1, winner of Race #6, reining 2016 Southern Fryed Drag Tour champion, L. Edward "ET" Foot. "ET" is driving the 392 Cu. In. Dodge Hemi powered "Tin Box" B/Fuel Competition Coupe, also for the Historic Racing Associates.

VS

The winner of Race #1 Dirttrack Dave. Dave will be driving his 1972 Nova SS-Pro stock powered by a 454 big block for DTD Motorsports and sponsored by Valvoline Oil, called Old Poo.

Both drivers warm their tires and stage. Dave thunders away with a 2.7 second advantage. ET is not to be denied, cuts a perfect light, and catches Dave buy half a car length. ET will go to Round 2.

This concludes round 1. Please return for what looks to be an exciting round 2, after a short break.

Has a checkered past.

Stand on it....brakes only slow yoou down.

Welcome back ladies, gentleman, crews, and drivers for Round 2 of the 2017 Southern Fryed Drag Tour at the Southern Fried Nationals at Rockingham Dragway, in Rockingham, North Carolina. Tonight is warm and dry. The track is in great shape, yet we’ve had several upsets tonight. So let’s start round 2 and see it that’s true.

We're going to start this round with a single car pass by the Tin Box, driven by ET.

ET preps his tires and stages. He's off on a clean pass. ET will move into the final round.

Up next are Otto and his "what The----Altered" VS Barry and his turbo Mustang II.

The boys do massive burnouts while taking their time to stage. Barry charges off with a 1.9 second head start. Otto tries, but can not catch him tonight.

That ends our semi-final round. We will take our mandatory break and return for our exiting final round.

Has a checkered past.

Stand on it....brakes only slow yoou down.

Welcome back ladies, gentleman, crews, and drivers for the final round of the 2017 Southern Fryed Drag Tour at the Southern Fried Nationals at Rockingham Dragway, in Rockingham, North Carolina. It’s still in the low 60’s and dry. We have an exciting final round coming up, so let’s get to it.

Our finalist tonight are, winless Barry Kuta challenging our reigning 2016 Southern Fryed Drag Tour Champion, L. Edward "ET" Foot.

Barry is driving the beautiful SVO Mustang II Trubo powered by 2,300cc's. Prepped by DIRT and sponsored by the Durango BBQ and grill and Jameson Irish Whiskey.

The drivers warm their tires and stage. Barry thunders off with his 2.7 second advantage. “ET” just barely hangs the hoops and hooks up. He is able to pass Barry in time for the win. “ET” is tonight's champion and has scored his second win of the season.

Please join me in congratulating “ET” and the Historic Racing Associates team for being the 2017 Southern Fried Nationals champion. fbr

I hope all y’all will join us in two weeks at the House of Hook Challenge at Carolina Dragway , in Jackson, South Carolina. Remember, next week is a bye week. The drivers and crews need a rest, some time with their families, and to prep their cars for the final push of the season.
