Welcome ladies, gentleman, crews, and drivers for Race #8 of the 2017 Southern Fryed Drag Tour at Spring Thunder at Bristol Dragway in Bristol, Tennessee. There weather is a little chill this year at 60 degrees, but at least it's not raining, like last year.

In our first seven races we have had five different winners. The points race is very tight, with only four points separating the first four drivers. Kevin and Otto share the points lead, with Dave and Speed right behind them. So, let's go racing and see who will be the Spring Thunder champion.

Our first pairing tonight is our fast qualifier and winner of Race #3, Paul D. "Speed Merchant" Smith VS last week's winner, reining 2016 Southern Fryed Drag Tour champion, and team mate L. Edward "ET" Foot.

Speed is driving the 310 Cu. In. Aluminum Small Block "Chevy" powered, "Little Feather" Junior Fuel Dragster, prepared by last yearís champions, Historic Racing Associates.

"ET" is driving the 392 Cu. In. Dodge Hemi powered "Tin Box" B/Fuel Competition Coupe, also for the Historic Racing Associates.

Both drivers do their burnouts, trying to heat their tires, and stage. ET roars of with a .8 second lead. Speed hits a super light and gives chase. Speed is able to catch the Tin Box in time. Speed will go to Round 2.

Has a checkered past.

Stand on it....brakes only slow yoou down.

Our second pair is our current points leader and winner of Race #4, Kevin Sassman VS the winner of Race #1 Dirttrack Dave.

Kevin driving his Dodge Red Ram hemi powered Fiat Topolino prepped by the Uncle Verde race team and sponsored by Hellion Speed Equipment.

Dave will be driving his 1972 Nova SS-Pro stock/superstock powered by a 454 big block for DTD Motorsports and sponsored by Valvoline Oil, called Old Poo.

Both stage, after warming their tires. Dave roars away with a full 3.2 second head start. Kevin waits patiently and drops the hammer. The Hellion, living up to it's name, starts going sideways, Kevin fights it, but crosses the center line. Dave gets the upset win and will move into round 2.

That brings up our final pair in round one, current points leader and winner of Races 2,5, and 6, rookie Otto Varoom VS our only win less driver Barry Kuta.

Otto is driving the 425 C.I.blown Buick Nailhead, Alky powered "what The----Altered".

Posted Image

Barry is driving the beautiful SVO Mustang II Trubo powered by 2,300cc's. Prepped by DIRT and sponsored by the Durango BBQ and grill and Jameson Irish Whiskey.

The drivers warm their tires and stage. Barry thunders off with a 2 second head start. Oh no! Otto red lights. Barry is going into round 2.

This concludes round 1. Please return for what looks to be an exciting round 2, after a short break.

Has a checkered past.

Stand on it....brakes only slow yoou down.

Welcome back ladies, gentleman, crews, and drivers for Race #8 of the 2017 Southern Fryed Drag Tour at the Spring Thunder at Bristol Dragway in Bristol, Tennessee. It's 55 degrees and the track is in great shape, but the underdogs are having their way. So letís start Round 2 and see it thatís true.

We're going to start this round with a single car pass by the Old Poo, driven by Dirttrack Dave.

Dave preps his tires and stages. He's off on a clean pass. Dave will move into the final round.

Up next are Speed and his digger "Little Feather" VS Barry and his turbo Mustang II.

Both drivers do their burnouts and stage. Barry charges off with a 3 second lead. Speed waits and cut a near perfect light. Speed is able to win and will move into the final round also.

That ends our semi-final round. We will take our mandatory break and return for our exiting final round.

Has a checkered past.

Stand on it....brakes only slow yoou down.

Our finalist tonight are Dave VS Speed, just like Race #2.

Dave will be driving his 1972 Nova SS-Pro stock powered by a 454 big block for DTD Motorsports and sponsored by Valvoline Oil, called Old Poo.

Speed is driving the 310 Cu. In. Aluminum Small Block "Chevy" powered, "Little Feather" Junior Fuel Dragster, prepared by last yearís champions, Historic Racing Associates.

They both do their burnouts and gingerly stage. Dave roars off with a 3.5 second head start. Speed waits. Speed charges after him. Dave is slowing and Speed wins his second event this season.

Please join me in congratulating Paul D. "Speed Merchant" Smith. and his Historic Racing Associates team for being the 2015 Spring Thunder champion. fbr
