Welcome ladies, gentlemen, kids of all ages crews, and drivers to 5th race of the SNRA 2017 Southern Fryed Drag Tour here st the Bayou Nationals a the State Capital Dragway, in Erwinville, Louisiana. The major story this week has been the extremely wet weather, just like last year. Although it rained this afternoon washing out most testing and qualifying, the rain has stopped and the track is only slightly damp, at the moment. Also like last year, we drew for pairings tonight. This was already planned for before postponing qualifying this afternoon. Race 10 at Carolina Dragway will also use drawing for pairings.

So with out wasting any more of this whole in the rain, we will bring out our pair of our first race winner, current pointís leader, Dirttrack Dave VS last week's winner Kevin Sassman.

Dave will be driving his 1972 Nova SS-Pro stock/superstock powered by a 454 big block for DTD Motorsports and sponsored by Valvoline Oil.

Posted Image

Kevin driving his Dodge Red Ram hemi powered Fiat Topolino prepped by the Uncle Verde race team and sponsored by Hellion Speed Equipment.

Posted Image

The drivers approach the starting line and try to get some heat in their tires. They both are staged. Although Dave has a 3.2 second advantage, his inexperience is showing with a slow reaction time followed by excessive wheel spin on the damp track. Kevin gets a much better start and is able to beat Dave to the finish. Kevin is the first to move into Round 2.

Has a checkered past.

Stand on it....brakes only slow yoou down.

Our next pair are Historic Racing Associates team mates, the winner of Race #3, Paul D. "Speed Merchant" Smith VS the reining 2016 Southern Fryed Drag Tour champion L. Edward "ET" Foot.

Speed is driving the 310 Cu. In. Aluminum Small Block "Chevy" powered, "Little Feather" Junior Fuel Dragster, prepared by last years champions, Historic Racing Associates.

"ET" is driving the 392 Cu. In. Dodge Hemi powered "Tin Box" B/Fuel Competition Coupe, also for the Historic Racing Associates.

Both drivers are doing massive burnouts trying to heat their tires and stage. "ET" charges away with a .9 second advantage. Speed roars after him and it is obvious that the "little Feather" is having traction problems. "ET" holds on for the win and is moving on to Round 2.

This brings us our last pair of the first round, Barry Kuta VS Otto Varoom, winner of Race #2.

Barry is driving the SVO Mustang II Trubo powered by 2,300cc's. Prepped by DIRT and sponsored by the Durango BBQ and grill and Jameson Irish Whiskey.

Posted Image

Otto is driving the 425 C.I.blown Buick Nailhead, Alky powered "what The----Altered".

The drivers do their burnouts and warm their tires, before staging. Barry charges off with a 1.9 second lead. Otto is on a mission and is able to find the traction to catch the Mustang. Otto is the last driver going into Round 2.

That concludes round 1 of the Bayou Nationals. The rain is on hold, so please stick around for round 2.

Has a checkered past.

Stand on it....brakes only slow yoou down.

Welcome back ladies, gentlemen, kids of all ages crews, and drivers to race #5 of the SNRA 2017 Southern Fryed Drag Tour here at the Bayou Nationals at State Capital Dragway, in Erwinville, Louisiana. Itís a warm damp evening with temps in the 60's with gusts up to 15mph crosswinds. So bundle up as we have a lot of racing yet to do tonight. We're lucky that the rain has not returned. Strangely, it's been a tough night for the lower powered cars. the track is mostly dry, and they've got some heat in the track at the starting line, but traction can be hard to find.

So let's not waste any time and start Round 2 with a single car pass by Kevin.

Kevin preps his tires and stages. He starts his pass, but is testing the limits of traction. Kevin will move into the final round.

Our last pair in Round 2 are coming to the line. It will be "ET" VS Otto. This will be a heads up race.

Both drivers do their pre-race routines and stage. They're off. It's very close, but Otto pulls out a 0.003 second win. Otto is our last finalist.

Please come back after our break for the final round of the Bayou Nationals.

Has a checkered past.

Stand on it....brakes only slow yoou down.

So let's bring out our final pair of the evening. First we have Dave, driving the Hellion VS Otto and his "what The----Altered". One thing we hadn't mentioned yet is that We noticed that the DTD Motorsports guys are running semi threaded tires in the rear. The same tires they used to win in Arizona in similar conditions.
