Welcome ladies, gentlemen, kids of all ages, crews, and drivers to 2nd round of the SNRA 2017 Southern Fryed Drag Tour here at the Copper Drags at Firebird International Raceway, in Chandler, Arizona. As most of you have guessed already, tonight's program has been postponed until tomorrow evening. The temps are in the low 50ís, but it has been raining steadily for 24 hours and not one pass has been made all day.

On the brighter side we want to welcome the return of last year's Southern Fryed Drag Tour champion, L. Edward "ET" Foot driving the "Tin Box" B/Fuel Competition Coupe for the Historic Racing Associates again.

We'll have to wait until tomorrow to watch him run and see if he can win a second championship.

So until tomorrow, stay dry.

Has a checkered past.

Stand on it....brakes only slow yoou down.

Welcome ladies, gentlemen, kids of all ages, crews, and drivers to part 2 of Race #2 of the SNRA 2017 Southern Fryed Drag Tour here at the Copper Drags at Firebird International Raceway, in Chandler, Arizona. Itís a beautiful evening. The rain stopped around 10 this morning. The temps are in the low 50ís and falling.

It's finally time to go racing. Our first pair is a repeat of last week. Tonight's fast qualifier, Paul D. "Speed Merchant" Smith VS newcomer Otto Varoom.

Speed is driving the 310 Cu. In. Aluminum Small Block "Chevy" powered, "Little Feather" Junior Fuel Dragster, prepared by last years champions, Historic Racing Associates.

Otto is driving the 425 C.I.blown Buick Nailhead, Alky powered "what The----Altered". We noticed that the DTD Motorsports guys are running semi threaded tires in the rear. Could this be a secrete learned on the short tracks for semi dry conditions.

It's time to race. Both drivers stage. Otto takes off with a 0.85 second advantage. Speed charges after him, but spins his tires wildly and backs out. Otto by 2 car lengths. A reversal of last week has Otto moving on to Round 2.

Has a checkered past.

Stand on it....brakes only slow yoou down.

Coming to the line is our next pair. Kevin Sassman VS Barry Kuta.

Kevin driving his Dodge Red Ram hemi powered Fiat Topolino prepped by the Uncle Verde race team and sponsored by Hellion Speed Equipment.

Posted Image

Barry is driving the SVO Mustang II Trubo powered by 2,300cc's. Prepped by DIRT and sponsored by the Durango BBQ and grill and Jameson Irish Whiskey.

Posted Image

Both drivers go through their prep and stage. Barry roars off with a 2.4 second lead. Kevin waits patiently, then charges after Barry, but he is early and red lights. Barry has put the Mustang into Round 2.

Up next is our last pair in Round 1. The reining 2016 Southern Fryed Drag Tour champion L. Edward "ET" Foot VS last week's winner Dirttrack Dave.

"ET" is driving the 392 Cu. In. Dodge Hemi powered "Tin Box" B/Fuel Competition Coupe for the Historic Racing Associates.

Posted Image

Dave will be driving his 1972 Nova SS-Pro stock/superstock powered by a 454 big block for DTD Motorsports and sponsored by Valvoline Oil.

Posted Image

Both cars are staging. Dave roars away with a 2.7 second advantage. "ET" waits and then drops the hammer. His tires go up in smoke and he can not recover in time. Dave wins and is the last to move into Round 2.

That concludes our first round for tonight. It appears that the faster cars are having traction problems tonight. Let's see how this plays out. Weíll take our mandatory break and return as soon as possible for Round 2.

Has a checkered past.

Stand on it....brakes only slow yoou down.

Both are staged. Barry gets a good start with his 1.9 second advantage. However Otto cuts a very good light, he hooks up exceptionally well, and wins by a car length. Otto takes his first ever Southern Fryed Drag Tour win.

We all want congratulate tonightís Copper Drags overall winner Otto. fbr

OVAL Trackers go straight! Congrads to all, great race run by all.Glad to see Otto got his wheel hop cured.Only needed a spacer to move wheels out a little!? We had no drag tires at shop, they,re slightly worn soft compound asphalt tires! They build it and it ran!!
So amazed by Otto and crew, almost lost my race mind set.
Welcome to our new team(s)

P.S. OttO,your not fired!just kidding r:r

Great job Otto! fbr I'm looking for Speed to take that lightweight to the front, Bernard is truly one of the finest dragster modellers in the world! :)))
Then that Keven is clean and mean, and with a Mopar this year, (Fiat too!) I'm with him. But all these teams are so great! jsm
