Good looking coach! Been admiring your work here and a couple other sites.
Don't know why AMT use asphalt tires on a dirt chassis? But they were also ran on both as DIRT of CNY did try a tour on asphalt and they worked!Dad ran
both few times in the day(50-60's)changed springs, shocks and tires and went racing. The great Jimmy Shampine once said now impossible, dirt cars high and narrow, with asphalt cars low(6"-12')off ground and wider. He tried to build to cars to do this.seen him so flustered a few times cause it wouldn't work.
little unasked for info, great model :)))

That's always bugged me as well.....though most likely they used the same tires that AMT used for their Grant King sprint car....as the later tires in those kits were all 2 piece tires by the time they brought out the Tobias modifieds.

on the other side of the coin, when M P C brought out their pavement modifieds (Pinto, Vega, etc.) they had the right sized tires for pavement, but those tires were treaded! But M P C just used the tires from their Super Stocker late model series....and IIRC, the same wheel as well....

Guess that was one way to keep the cost down on these modified kits.....
Just my opinion of all of the above....
