1956 Chevy; Old School Saturday Night

I came across this 56 Chevy on eBay that was a total glue bomb, I felt kinda sorry for it
and thought it deserved to live the rest of it's life a stock car from the late 60's. Did a little
hacking on the body and built a cage from styrene, the rest is from my parts box.
Hope you like it, it takes me back to the good ole days. Thanks for looking!

IAracefan,

IA, that build brings back so many memories it's durn near scary!!! I think I must have seen 100's of those beating on each other through the years. You captured the "Flavor" on this one, just like I remember. Yep, racing with no money, hungry, dirty and having the time of our lives---and the drivers had to DRIVE these! If I live to be 100 I will never forget those times. Thanks for the pics and the memories----and darn good job too!
Ordinarily I am insane, but I do have lucid moments where I am merely stupid.
I never TRY to hit another car. But when I do I make sure its a Prius.

rrr Excellent '56 short tracker. Everything about this build screams racer. And as the others have said, it sure brings back many wonderful memories. Thanks for sharing it with us.
I build models because GOD allows me to and because I can't afford the real thing!!

Kevin, you know I'm a mopar man, but I'd have been happy to be behind the wheel of this one. :))) :))) :))) I wonder, in the day, how many guys felt sorry for a 1:1 car and tried to bring a little glory into it's life by making it a racer? This would have been a candidate for best appearing car at the 1965 National Short Track Championship at Rockford! rrr

Thanks Dave and Dave. I suppose I will have to call this the fresh out of the paint shop version, it certainly wouldn't look this clean after the first race night.
The thing about this build is I wasn't to concerned about getting a nice paint job since it was going to be a Saturday night banger. I used the last of an old can of paint thinking it won't look to professional, and of course it turns out to be one of the best paint jobs I've done in years. Go figure, you never know how things will turn out.
