Welcome ladies, gentlemen, kids of all ages crews, and drivers to the Race #10 of the SNRA 2016 Southern Fryed Drag Tour here at the House of Hook Challenge at Carolina Dragway in Jackson, South Carolina. The major story this week has been the beautiful weather for the past few days. It's almost 80 degrees and dry. We drew for pairings tonight, just like we did in Race #5.

Let's bring out our first pairing. The winner of Race #5, Rick, driving a 383 c.i. Hilborn injected small block Chevy powered 1941 Willys pick-up for the Johnson Racing and Whoopee Parlor team.

VS

Up next is Ruth Truth driving her Potvin-blown, 300CID powered '32 Bantam Altered.

After their burnouts, both drivers stage. Rick roars off with a .9 second lead. Ruth charges after him, but is unable to pass him in time. Rick wins and will be in Round 2.

Has a checkered past.

Stand on it....brakes only slow yoou down.

VS

Dave "Chargin Charlie" Bayer, winner of Race #3, driving the twin blown Olds powered, four wheel driven Corvair called Unsafe At Any Speed, for the AMB team.

The drivers prep their tires and stage. Bobby thunders off with a 1.3 second head start. Dave charges after, but unfortunately he has red lighted. Bobby will be in Round 2.

Up next are the winner of Race #7, Kevin "IAracefan" Sassman, driving his 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Funny Car for the Uncle Verde racing team.

VS

This week's new points leader, the SFDT 2013 champion, wisdonm, driving his Ferrari F-40 BIPOLAR. This car has a massive twin turboed 820 cubic inch Ford hemi.

Wisdonm is still looking for that elusive first win of 2016. Both drivers do massive burnouts and stage. Kevin charges off with a 1.4 second lead. Wisdonm lights 'em up and runs the Vette down in time. Wisdonm is going into Round 2.

Up next are our only multiple race winners of the 2016 season. Winner of Races #1, #2 and #8, L. Edward "ET" Foot, driving the gorgeous front engined dragster Dynamic Performance Special for the Historic Racing Associates team.

Posted Image

VS

The winner of Races #4 and #9, Big Red Kelley, driving his blow Hemi rail for Kelley Motorsports.

Posted Image

Both drivers do a burnout and stage. "ET" charges off with a 1.6 second advantage. Big Red hits too hard and gets immediate wheel shake and backs off. "ET" will move to Round 2.

This brings up our final pair of Round 1. Emily Cudahy, winner of Race #6, driving an ex-Landy Automotive Research, 440 powered, 1968 Dodge Dart GTS for her grandmother Agnus Cudahy.

Posted Image

VS

The ever fast, but so far unlucky in 2016, Paul D. "Speed Merchant" Smith driving his beautiful blown Hemi powered "Terrible Toppolino" Fiat Fuel Coupe for the Historic Racing Associates team.

Posted Image

The drivers prep their tires and stage. Emily thunders off with a 2.6 second head start. Speed waits patiently, pops an impressive wheel stand, but unfortunately he has red lighted. Emily will be the last to move into Round 2.

This concludes round 1. Come back after our short break for round 2.

Has a checkered past.

Stand on it....brakes only slow yoou down.

Rick does his burnout, trying to put some heat in his tires. He gingerly takes off searching for traction the whole length of the track. Rick will be moving on to semi-final round.

WOO HOO! Thanks for all the stiff competition. And a win in my "almost" backyard makes it that much more special. "Li'l Nasty" is holding her own. If all goes well I will have "Big Nasty" ready for next years season. maddr

What elimination racing is all about. Congrats Rick for a fine drive to the top! A rare error by our driver off the line cost us but, as usual, the Southern Fryed provided another weekend of super-fine racing!
Keep on buildin'

Fortunately for me, after the red light, Lafontaine didn't bite my head off and I know he could if he wanted to! r:r
