Welcome ladies, gentlemen, kids of all ages, crews, and drivers to 6th race of the SNRA 2016 Southern Fryed Drag Tour here at the Gulfport Catfish Nationals at Gulfport Dragway in Gulfport, Mississippi. After days of rain, itís become a pleasant evening, except for the 20mph headwind. The temps are in the low 60ís and falling. Because of the wet track conditions this afternoon, it was agree to seed the drivers by season points.

This is the last event of the first half of the season. Weíve had four different winners in the first five events. Itís been a close fought battle with "ET". wisdonm. and Rick all tied for first. The good news is that at this point, no one has been mathematically eliminated from winning the season championship.

Now it's time to start racing. Tonight's first pairing is first seed, and winner of the first two races, L. Edward "ET" Foot VS 6th seeded Kevin "IAracefan" Sassman.

"ET" is driving the gorgeous front engined dragster Dynamic Performance Special for the Historic Racing Associates team.

Posted Image

Kevin is driving his 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Funny Car for the Uncle Verde racing team.

Posted Image

Both drivers do their burnouts and stage. "ET" charges off with a .2 second lead. Kevin drops the hammer and barely hangs the hoops. Kevin is on a mission and ran "ET" down by a wheel. Kevin will be the first to move into Round 2.

Has a checkered past.

Stand on it....brakes only slow yoou down.

Our next pair are wisdonm VS the winner of the 3rd race, Dave "Chargin Charlie" Bayer.

Wisdonm in his red and blue Ferrari F-40 BIPOLAR. This car has a massive twin turboed 820 cubic inch Ford hemi.

Posted Image

Dave is driving the twin blown Olds powered, four wheel driven Corvair called Unsafe At Any Speed, on loan from DIRT, for the AMB team.

Posted Image

As the smoke clears, the drivers stage. Dave not only has a 1 second advantage, but 4 wheel drive also. Dave roars away smoking all four tires. Wisdonm charges after him, but looses traction. Dave will be moving into Round 2.

Coming to the line next is Ruth Truth VS Emily Cudahy, for an all lady's race.

Ruth is driving her Potvin-blown, 300CID powered '32 Bantam Altered.

Posted Image

Emily is driving an ex-Landy Automotive Research, 440 powered, 1968 Dodge Dart GTS for her grandmother Agnus Cudahy.

Posted Image

Both drivers warm their tires and stage. Emily, who has a 1.75 second head start, cuts a perfect light, and thunders away. Ruth charges after her, but to no avail. Emily scores her first SFDT win by .002 seconds and will be in Round 2.

Has a checkered past.

Stand on it....brakes only slow yoou down.

Posted Image

Speed is driving his beautiful blown Hemi powered "Terrible Toppolino" Fiat Fuel Coupe for the Historic Racing Associates team.

Posted Image

As the smoke clears, the drivers stage. Rick roars off with a 1.75 second lead. Speed charges after him. The Fiat is really hooked up and catches the Willys in time. Speed is going to Round 2.

Our last pair of round one are Bobby Bledsoe VS Big Red Kelley, winner of Race 4.

Bobby is driving a blown 417 CI Olds in a 1932 Sedan Altered for Bledsoe Sanitation and Landfill.

Posted Image

Big Red is driving his blow Hemi rail for Kelley Motorsports.

Posted Image

Both drivers warmed their tires and stage. Bobby roars off with a 2.1 second lead. Big Red is a little slow off the light, and can not catch the '32. Bobby is our final driver moving into Round 2.

That concludes our first round for tonight. Weíll take our mandatory break and return as soon as possible for round 2.

Has a checkered past.
