Welcome ladies, gentlemen, kids of all ages crews, and drivers to 5th race of the SNRA 2016 Southern Fryed Drag Tour here st the Bayou Nationals a the State Capital Dragway, in Erwinville, Louisiana. The major story this week has been the extremely wet weather. Although it rained this afternoon washing out most testing and qualifying, the rain has stopped and the track is only slightly damp, at the moment. We drew for pairings tonight. This was already planned for before postponing qualifying this afternoon. Race 10 at Carolina Dragway will also use drawing for pairings.

So with out wasting any more of this whole in the rain, we will bring out our pair of Bobby Bledsoe VS Emily Cudahy.

Bobby is driving a blown 417 CI Olds in a 1932 Sedan Altered for Bledsoe Sanitation and Landfill.

Posted Image

Emily is driving an ex-Landy Automotive Research, 440 powered, 1968 Dodge Dart GTS for her grandmother Agnus Cudahy.

Posted Image

The drivers approach the starting line and try to get some heat in their tires. They both are staged. Although Emily has a 1.8 second advantage, her inexperience is showing with a slow reaction time followed by excessive wheel spin on the damp track. Bobby gets a much better start and is able to beat Emily to the finish. Bobby will move into Round 2.

Has a checkered past.

Stand on it....brakes only slow yoou down.

Our next pairs is race #3 winner Dave "Chargin Charlie" Bayer VS Kevin Sassman.

Dave is driving the twin blown Olds powered, four wheel driven Corvair called Unsafe At Any Speed, for the AMB team.

Posted Image

Kevin is driving his 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Funny Car for the Uncle Verde racing team

Posted Image

Both drivers are doing massive burnouts trying to heat their tires and stage. Kevin charges away with a .6 second advantage. Dave roars after him and it is obvious that his 4 wheel drive is an advantage and he beats Kevin to the finish. Dave is moving on to Round 2.

This brings us Ruth Truth VS Paul D. "Speed Merchant" Smith.

Ruth is driving her Potvin-blown, 300CID powered '32 Bantam Altered.

Posted Image

Speed is driving his beautiful blown Hemi powered "Terrible Toppolino" Fiat Fuel Coupe for the Historic Racing Associates team.

Posted Image

Ruth and Speed warm their tires and stage. Ruth takes off with a 1 second advantage. Speed charges after her but gets tire hop and has to back out to gather it up. Ruth is able to win and will be on Round 2.

Has a checkered past.

wisdonm in his red and blue Ferrari F-40 BIPOLAR. This car has a massive twin turboed 820 cubic inch Ford hemi.

Posted Image

Both drivers heat their tires and stage. Rick thunders away with a massive 3.4 second advantage. Wisdonm waits for what seems like forever. He gingerly applies the power and yet breaks the tires loose at the 600 foot mark and backs out. rick will be in Round 2.

Our final pair in Round 1 are L. Edward "ET" Foot VS last week's winner, Big Red Kelley.

"ET" is driving the gorgeous front engined dragster Dynamic Performance Special for the Historic Racing Associates team.

Posted Image

Big Red is driving his blow Hemi rail for Kelley Motorsports.

Posted Image

The drivers do their burnouts and warm their tires, before staging. "ET" charges off with a 1.3 second lead. Big Red is on a mission and is able to find the traction to catch "ET". Big Red is the last driver going into Round 2.

That concludes round 1 of the Bayou Nationals. The rain is on hold, so please stick around for round 2.

Has a checkered past.

Welcome back ladies, gentlemen, kids of all ages crews, and drivers to race #5 of the SNRA 2016 Southern Fryed Drag Tour here at the Bayou Nationals at State Capital Dragway, in Erwinville, Louisiana. Itís a warm damp evening with temps in the 60's with gusts up to 15mph crosswinds. So bundle up as we have a lot of racing yet to do tonight. We're lucky that the rain has not returned. It's been another tough night for the high horespowered cars. the track is mostly dry, and they've got some heat in the track at the starting line, but traction can be hard to find.

So let's not waste any time and start Round 2 with a single car pass by Bobby.
He is driving a blown 417 CI Olds in a 1932 Sedan Altered for Bledsoe Sanitation and Landfill.

Posted Image

Bobby preps his tires and stages. He starts his pass, but is testing the limits of traction. Bobby will move into the semi-final round.

Our next pair is Dave VS Ruth.

Dave is driving the twin blown Olds powered, four wheel driven Corvair called Unsafe At Any Speed.

Posted Image

Ruth is driving her Potvin-blown, 300CID powered '32 Bantam Altered.

Posted Image

After their burn outs, both stage. Ruth thunders off with a 1.5 second advantage. Once again, Dave cuts a good light and his superior traction helps him catch Ruth in time. Dave will also move into the semi-final round.

Has a checkered past.

Stand on it....brakes only slow yoou down.

Nice job Rick! Enjoy it while you can. I talked with Ruth, Emily, Bobby and Agnes after the show. Emily told Ruth Truth that she kinda thought she had an "E" ticket ride but found she brought a pea-shooter to a Howitzer competition. Ruthie just said "Now we know, we'll be ready next year". Agnes just told em "its your first year girls, now you know what to shove in their face next year. Learn this year and burn em down next year." All bobby said was I should have built a super outa this thing. It aint no drag racer. sm2
