Welcome ladies, gentleman, crews, and drivers for the Greater Los Angeles Lions Club Championships, at the historic Lions Drag strip in Wilmington, California, the inaugural 2016 Saturday Night Racing Association's Southern Fryed Drag Tour event. Most of us are enjoying the relief from the unrelenting winter in most of the country. The temps here are in the low 80's. Today’s highs were single digits back home.

This is the 6th season of the Southern Fryed Drag Tour. For some reason we have a disappointing small field of only seven cars. We also only have one past Southern Fryed Drag Tour champion competing this year. That would be the 2013 champ wisdonm who is tonight's fast qualifier in his Ford powered Ferrari.

It's time to get this season started. Our first run of the season will be a single car pass by our fast qualifier wisdonm in his red and blue Ferrari F-40 BIPOLAR. This car has a massive twin turboed 820 cubic inch Ford hemi.

Wisdonm takes a pass of 6.50 for an uneventful season starting pass.

Has a checkered past.

Stand on it....brakes only slow yoou down.

Ruth is driving her Potvin-blown, 300CID powered '32 Bantam Altered.

It's time to race. Both drivers stage. Ruth takes off with a 0.87 second advantage. Kevin charges after her and is able to beat her by a nose. Kevin will move on to Round 2.

This brings up our last pair in the semi-final round, for a classic show down between Historic Racing Associates team mates, Speed VS "ET".

Speed is driving the "Terrible Toppolino".

Posted Image

"ET" is driving the beautiful Dynamic Performance Special.

Posted Image

The two diggers do their burnouts and gingerly stage. "ET" has a 0.28 second advantage and roars away hanging the hoops. Speed also does a wheely, but gets a little high and has to back peddle. "ET" hangs on for the win and will move into the final round.

That concludes the semi-final round. Be sure to return in time to see the exciting final, after the mandatory break.

Congrats to Bernard, "ET" and HRA. :)))
Ordinarily I am insane, but I do have lucid moments where I am merely stupid.
I never TRY to hit another car. But when I do I make sure its a Prius.

Back for our second season, this time with 2 more contemporary cars ('though still from the front-engine era), we were surprised when we lucked out in the final and prevailed over the Bipolar car. We thought that wonderful hi-tech machine had us for sure. Thanks to the organizers, the entrants and all the spectators for making the kickoff of the season entertaining and hard fought. We look forward to more entries for the coming races and more well-handicapped head to head competition.

Thanx everybody!
Keep on buildin'
