Posted Image I am building Brent Kaeding's 1980 supermodified he drove at the Fairgrounds in San Jose. That was back in the day of giant wings, 8' long. Crazy stuff and, of course the supers evolved into sprint cars in a few years there. The frame is almost complete, the body buck is ready for fiberglass and I'm working on the killer wing.

Love the fab work!! I want to do sprints from this time, but the hoods are very hard to find and fabing them are a pain in the rear for me!

Thanks, I enjoy building the frames the most. Even with real cars, frames do it for me.

Excellent fabrication, there's about as much work in that thing as there was in the 1:1.

This is exactly the reason I am glad I found this site.

KUTGW, I definitely will watch this one

Thank you and you are correct about how much work goes into building one of these. I have designed and built a race car { a midget}30+ years ago, which I raced and got a third place in the first Main Event I ran with it. These models go together faster because of size and material, like gluing rather than welding, but I still get a kick out of drawing something up and making it work. I am going to be building a real one again, soon, to try and capture that glory again at age 67. Some say I should stick to models as it's much cheaper. 1hrr

I finished the fiberglass body and mounted it to the frame. Did some wing angle adjustment and cut the nose wing down some.

Nothing beats a great tubular space frame for shear mechanical good looks IMHO. And you do it so well! Love these builds. I'm looking forward to more!

I gotta tell ya old, I been looking at your builds in a couple of threads and they are just Double-Throwdown Killer Kool! I never got to mash my fingers and burn myself building one of these in 1:1 but I know what you mean when you want to do one again! I say DO IT. This stuff just makes me drool all over my keyboard when I look at it. Super job, I loves it!!! rrr rrr rrr rrr

My goodness, Rembrandt----er I mean Old Sprinter, with all the detail you add you might as well be doing the 1:1 stuff. But then, I understand that when us old critters get old, the body won't protest as much when you do it in scale!!! And you can build while sitting in a comfy chair. Keep doing this, I love to see it and watch your builds. I can't really come up with words so I will just add this- rrr wnw
