I am going to build a real race car to run races with vintage gys here in the west. The San Jose type supermodifieds from the 70s are still very popular and more and more new cars are being built. The rules are loose. They must have a 2x4 frame, beam front axle with a buggy spring suspension, no more than 6" of offset and look like a super from that era. I want to do this real bad and I could buy a car, several chances, but I wanted to design and build my own stuff. I designed and built/raced a midget in 79' and it was so much fun I want to do that again. So I drew up plans, as always, and tehn decided that I'm a model builder so I should make a mockup first so see if there are any hidden problems that I haven't addressed in the plans. So here is that mockup completed and next month I start the real guy. Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

I worked out several problems building the mock up and that is why I did it that way. I use to design big homes and sometimes the association would want a model. So I would build one to submit. I found that by doing so the building process went much smoother when I would actually start construction. When something goes wrong building the real deal it cost big bucks; a mock up cost pennies.
